Distribution, sowing and propagation of saffron
Crocus is a horticultural variety of Hibiscus chinensis, which has certain ornamental value and florescence for the whole year. Because crocus hair branch force is stronger, so resistant to pruning, for the soil adaptation range is also relatively wide. Those who prefer to breed crocuses themselves can choose to divide the balls and sow them.

1. Sub-ball reproduction
Propagation with corms, in the middle of May in crocus part of the ground has not yet fully returned to seedlings, dig corms, according to the size of separate, put in a ventilated dry place storage. Planted in mid-September. Soaking corms with benzolite diluent before planting and treating soil with amberlite have good effects on eliminating nematodes in soil and preventing pests from spreading. Early seed bulbs germinate after rooting, early germination, conducive to plant growth and development; late seed germination after rooting, late germination, seedling growth is poor. The size of the bulb is closely related to flowering or not. The corm weight below 8 grams generally does not bloom, and the number of flowers opened increases with the increase of corm weight. The number of leaves, number of leaves and leaf size were also related to corm size. Therefore, crocus seed stems must be selected and planted in grades. It is generally divided into four grades: more than 25 grams, 16~25 grams, 8~18 grams and less than 8 grams to facilitate management. Soaking the stem with 5% lime water for 20 minutes before sowing can prevent the rot of terminal buds; soaking the stem with 500 times solution of 25% carbendazim and 3000 times solution of dicofol or 40% dimethoate for 20 minutes, sowing immediately, can prevent rot disease and Robin root mite. Before planting, remove the lateral buds on the corms, leave 1 top bud for the seed stem less than 16 g, 2 top buds for 16~25 g, 3 top buds for more than 25 g, and plant in flat beds. The yield of crocus is related to planting density and depth. If planted too shallow, the number of new corms, individual small, can flower corms less; planted too deep (such as 10 cm deep), although the new corms are larger, but the number of flowering corms should also be reduced. For this reason, the planting density and depth of crocus should be determined according to the size of bulbs, planted separately. For bulbs less than 8 g, the row spacing is 9~12 cm, the plant spacing is 3 cm, and the depth is 3~4.5 cm; for bulbs of 8~25 g, the row spacing is 12 cm, the plant spacing is 6~9 cm, and the depth is 6 cm; for bulbs of more than 25 g, the row spacing is 12-15 cm, the plant spacing is 9~12 cm, and the depth is 6 cm. When planting, ditching seeds according to the above depth, putting corms in the above density, gently pressing the main buds upward into the soil, covering the soil and flattening. About 10500 kg of seeds were used per hectare.
II. Sowing and reproduction
Because crocus is not easy to seed, it needs to be artificially pollinated to get seeds. When the seeds are ripe, they are harvested and sown in open seedbeds or pots. Seed sowing density can not be too large, to sparse as well, because the plant needs to grow balls, generally within 2 years can not be dug, from seed sowing to plant flowering, often after 3 to 4 years of time.
Saffron bulbs and seed propagation
Saffron, also known as saffron (details), is a very famous and valuable flower, not only has a high medicinal value, its ornamental value is also very high. In general, saffron is mainly propagated by bulbs and seeds. Xiaobian will introduce two propagation methods of saffron in detail for you.

1. Sub-ball reproduction. Generally carried out in August to September, mature corms have a number of main and lateral buds, after flowering from the base of leaf clusters expanded to form new corms, summer after the ground withered, dug out corms, grading, drying, storage. And planting time early is conducive to the formation of strong seedlings. Each mature bulb has several main buds and lateral buds. When planting, large balls of more than 8 grams should be planted separately from small balls. Small corms weighing less than 8 grams cannot bloom in the same year and need to be cultured for another year. Potted flowers should be selected in October with a bulb weight of about 20 grams, and flower pots with an inner diameter of 15 cm can be planted with 5 to 6 balls per pot. After planting, put it outside for curing. About two weeks after taking root, moved into the room with sufficient light, fresh and humid air, around New Year's Day can bloom. After flowering, the residual flowers should be picked to avoid nutrient consumption, and the compound fertilizer solution based on phosphorus and potassium should be applied once or twice to promote the growth of bulbous roots. Continue normal maintenance until the ground part turns yellow in summer, and store the corm after taking it out and drying in the shade. Crocus can also be water viewing, the method and narcissus (details) immersion in the same.
2. Seed breeding.

How to breed crocus 1. Seed breeding method
Because saffron is not easy to seed, it needs artificial pollination to get seeds. After the seeds are mature, they are harvested and sown in open seedbeds or pots.

2. Ball division breeding method
The propagation method of saffron bulb division is generally carried out in August to September. The mature corm has multiple main and lateral buds, and expands from the base of leaf cluster to form new corm after flowering. After the aboveground part withers in summer, the corm is dug out, graded, dried in shade and stored.
Generally, each mature bulb has several main buds and lateral buds. When planting, you can plant large balls of more than 8 grams separately from small balls. Small corms weighing less than 8 grams cannot bloom in the same year and need to be cultured for another year.
