In the north of our country, the planting and sowing of traditional Chinese medicine is generally more in spring and summer, which is a routine operation. The vast number of drug farmers have been stuck in a rut for many years, with both the joy of success and the worry of failure. It is natural to plant seeds in spring, grow in summer, harvest in autumn and hide in winter. no ground for blame. However, according to the laws of nature, there is no innovation and development. There must be a spirit of innovation in the cultivation and development of traditional Chinese medicine.

The topic of planting traditional Chinese medicine has been explored by many people. Some study diseases and insect pests of traditional Chinese medicine, some study soil science, and some study fertilizer science and genetics and so on. At the beginning of reform and opening up, Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the chief designer, once said, "No matter whether it is a black cat or a white cat, it is a good cat to catch a mouse." I think this sentence is also suitable for the industry of planting traditional Chinese medicine, that is to say, no matter sowing in any season, as long as the planting is successful, the ultimate goal is to let the majority of drug farmers see real benefits.

Next, I would like to discuss some of my ideas with you.

Winter sowing

1. Timing and methods of sowing in winter: before the Beginning of Winter, the weather will not immediately become very cold, when the temperature is about 8 degrees above zero, we can fertilize and prepare the soil. After the soil is ready, depending on the soil moisture, if it is drier, it can be watered and preserved, and we can sow seeds if the border surface can enter people in 2 days after water infiltration. After sowing, in order to combine the soil and seeds tightly, we can press the sowing surface with a big hoe to prevent air-drying from affecting seedling emergence. After sowing, due to the low soil temperature, the seeds will not sprout. When the temperature drops to 0 Mui 1 degree, we can pour frozen water once.

2. Benefits of winter sowing:

(1) it is good for soil moisture conservation: after watering once frozen water, even if it does not snow, there will be a layer of floating soil on the border, which is about 1mi 2cm. The seeds under the floating soil will not be air-dried, and when the temperature rises in the following spring, the seeds can germinate smoothly.

(2) prolong the growth period: compared with the spring of the following year, the seedling emergence in winter is earlier, the growth period is prolonged, the seedling is strong, and the occurrence of dead seedling is reduced.

(3) improve the disease resistance of plants. The disease-prone season of medicinal plants is from July to August every year, when high temperature and humidity are easy to form diseases and insect pests, while the plants sown in winter have been strong and successfully passed through the disease-prone period, laying a good foundation for the high and stable yield of traditional Chinese medicine.

The above only represents the personal point of view, winter sowing needs specific variety specific analysis, can not blindly follow the implementation.
