Panax notoginseng, also known as Panax notoginseng and Tianqi, is a plant of the family Araliaceae. Taking dried root into medicine is a valuable traditional Chinese medicine, a classic hemostatic medicine, and one of the main components of Yunnan Baiyao, which is well-known at home and abroad. Modern studies have shown that Panax notoginseng still has many new physiological activation components, such as anti-brain aging, anti-arrhythmia, hypoglycemia, blood lipids, analgesia and so on. Panax notoginseng is propagated by seeds, mainly by raising seedlings and transplanting.

Seed selection. Choose the three or four-year-old Panax notoginseng orchard with strong growth, free of diseases and insect pests and full fruit as the seed field. In the early and middle of June, when the plant bolts, the small inflorescences should be removed in time to promote the fullness of seeds. When Panax notoginseng blossoms and bears fruit, the weight of the disk increases gradually. in order to prevent the pedicel from bending, a thin stick or small bamboo stick must be inserted next to the plant as a pillar, and the disk must be tied to the pillar. In order to improve the plumpness of seeds, one more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied from budding to flowering.

Collect seeds. The seeds of Panax notoginseng generally mature from mid-October to mid-December. Due to the long flowering time, the seed ripening period is very inconsistent. According to the situation of seed maturity, it can be divided into three stages: the first stage is from mid-October to early November, the second stage is in mid-and late November, and the third stage is in early and mid-December. Therefore, seed collection should be carried out in stages. The fruits of the first and second stages are bright red when they mature, the seeds are full and the germination rate is high. In the third stage, due to low temperature, the fruits are not fully ripe and light yellow, and the seeds are small and not full. Therefore, the first and second stage seeds should be selected for seed use. The seedlings cultivated by it are strong, resistant to diseases and insect pests and strong resistance to stress. The harvested seeds should not be stacked together so as to avoid heat and mildew. They should be placed thinly on the bamboo mat and placed in a ventilated and cool place. After the outer skin is slightly dry, the seeds should be peeled into a single seed to sow.

Raise seedlings. Before sowing, disinfect the seeds with 0.2-0.3 Baumetolite-sulfur mixture for 10 minutes, or disinfect them with 200-300-fold solution of Dysen zinc for 15 minutes, wash them with water and dry them before sowing. The sowing time is generally from early November to late November, and no later than January of the following year at the latest. The use of on-demand, which can not only ensure the sowing quality, but also improve the work efficiency. Once watered after sowing, seedlings can emerge after about 2 months. After one year of cultivation, the seedlings can be planted.

Transplant. It is generally carried out before dormant buds sprout from late November to January of the following year. To avoid root damage when raising seedlings, you should start at the bottom of the bed, dig up the roots, and then gently peel off the soil. Raise seedlings and grade at the same time. Generally, it is divided into three levels according to the size of the seedlings, and those other than the third grade should be removed and cannot be transplanted. Where qualified strips are disinfected after cutting off the aboveground part, the method is the same as seed disinfection. After disinfection, rinse with water to dry before transplanting.
