Executive Yuan Departs from Penghu for Commercial Transfer of Dongji Island Renewable Energy Microgrid System

With the support of Ministry of Science and Technology Phase II Energy National Plan and Penghu County Government, the technology of Nuclear Energy Research Institute of Atomic Energy Commission of Executive Yuan was transferred to Zhongxing Electric Co., Ltd. in Dongji.

The Executive Yuan starts from Penghu to transfer the microgrid system of renewable energy in Dongjiyu.

The microgrid system is the heart and nervous system of the steady operation of renewable energy. with the support of the second national energy plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Penghu county government, the technology of the Institute of Nuclear Energy of the Atomic Energy Commission of the Executive Yuan has been transferred to Zhongxing Electric Engineering. China's first outlying island renewable energy microgrid system was built in Dongjiyu and successfully transferred. On March 27th, 106, renewable energy accounted for 92.8% of the total power supply in Dongjiyu. It can reduce fuel consumption by 33000 litres and carbon dioxide emissions by about 58 tons in the whole year. The system consists of 86 kW solar power generation system, 180 kWh energy storage battery, 200 kW diesel generator and 3 power load feeders.

In Dongjiyu, Penghu, according to household registration, there are 157 households with 264 people, and there are about a dozen people from the Maritime Patrol Office and the National Park Management Office of the four Southern Islands. the island is self-operated by the county government to generate electricity, with high fuel and maintenance costs and unstable power supply. Due to the high cost of fuel transportation, electricity consumption on outlying islands has always been a financial burden and an urgent problem to be solved in Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries.

The first stage of the plan completes the synchronous power supply of diesel generator and solar photovoltaic; in the second stage, it completes the erection of intelligent inverter, the introduction of basic power management system and the construction of wireless remote monitoring and other functions; in the third stage, Chinese people independently develop advanced microgrid energy management system (μ EMS), coordinate and control the energy storage system, and optimize economic dispatching.

The system participated in the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Smart Community Initiative (ESCI) Smart Grid Best case Competition, which stood out among the 197 competition cases of 21 countries and won the Silver Award. In the future, the industry will cooperate with the government's new southward policy, apply microgrid-related technology to the islands where Southeast Asian countries are in urgent need of electricity, expand international diplomacy and promote economic and trade development, and create opportunities for emerging industries.
