Liriodendron chinense is a valuable traditional Chinese medicine of Araceae, commonly known as furuncle and poisonous bean, also known as Baifuzi and Yubaifu. Because of its high medical value and health care function, the development prospect is extremely broad.

1. Cultivation

Single horn lotus likes cool and humid environment, the soil is suitable for sandy loam with good drainage, general black loam, sandy loam, flat land, slope and mountain area can grow, and the soil should not be too sticky or too alkaline.

It is usually planted in late April. On the prepared land, make a border 1.3m wide, and then open a horizontal ditch on the border, with a distance between 22~26cm and a depth of 7~10cm. One tuber is planted every 7~10cm, and the bud mouth is upward. 2000~3000kg barnyard manure or compost was applied per mu, and after manure was applied, the cover soil was flush with the border surface, and the soil cover depth was 4~5cm, which was slightly suppressed. Use small tuber 20~25kg per mu.

Generally, seedlings emerge in June and the growth period is short. Ploughing, weeding and fertilizing in the middle of June, and ploughing, weeding and topdressing in the first ten days of August.

In late September, the soil and fibrous roots were removed and dried for medicinal purposes, and the small bulbs were reserved for planting. The corms were stored in a kiln, piled up in layers with dry fine sediment and stored for overwintering. The pit temperature should be kept at 2-5 ℃.

2. Application

Nelumbo nucifera has a wide range of medicinal value and development prospects. Modern medical research shows that, in addition to the above medicinal uses, it has a special effect on all kinds of furuncle, poison and furuncle, and folk medicine has a unique effect in the treatment of liver cirrhosis, diabetes and lung cancer. The medicinal wine brewed with single horn lotus has a unique clear alcohol and has a unique curative effect on patients with tracheitis.
