After root system, it can tonify liver and kidney, tonify qi and blood, collect essence and qi, and rattan can dispel rheumatism, calm nerves and stop sweating. Shouwu is a semi-positive plant, like warm and humid climate, avoid dry and stagnant water, it is better to choose well-drained, loose and fertile sandy loam.

I. Propagation methods: seed, cutting and striping propagation

(1) seed propagation: the fruit ripens in autumn, is dried and stored after harvest, sows and raises seedlings in March in spring, prepares the beds according to the general seedling land, spreads the seeds evenly in the ditch according to the row spacing of 6-7 inches, opens shallow ditches, spreads the seeds evenly in the ditch, covers soil for 2-3 minutes, covers grass and water, and emerges in about half a month. When the seedling height is 4-5 inches, it can be planted, and the plant row spacing is 0.8-1 foot × 1.2-1.5 feet.

(2) Cuttage propagation: the sturdy and robust branches were cut from June to August, which were 3-5 inches long and inserted obliquely in the seedbed. The temperature was 24-28 ℃, the soil was moist, it took about 15 days to take root, and it could be planted in about a week. The planting specifications are the same as above.

(3) striping propagation: when the plant is growing vigorously from June to August, the branches of strong and old plants are selected and corrugated, which is buried in about an inch of soil, pressed slightly, and can take root in more than 10 days, and be planted in the same year or the following spring.

II. Field management

Weeding and loosening the soil in time during the growth period, and applying human feces, urine or urea every spring and summer. Topdressing rotten compost in autumn. In the second year after planting, there are many and long vines, so it is appropriate to set up pillars for winding in spring, which is beneficial to growth.

The occurrence of leaf spot in summer can be controlled by Bordeaux solution (1) and the occurrence of aphids can be controlled by dimethoate.

Harvest and processing

Three years after planting, Polygonum multiflorum was harvested in autumn and winter. After digging, the stems and leaves were removed, the soil was washed, the large ones were cut into thin slices of about half an inch, and the small ones were not cut, dried or dried. From the second year after planting, the rattan can be harvested once a year in autumn. After cutting off the vine, remove twigs and leaves, and bundle it to dry or cut into sections to dry.
