In 2017, China ranked 14th in the world competitiveness of IMD.

According to the 2017 IMD World Competitiveness Annual report (IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook) of the Lobsang School of Management in Switzerland (IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook), China ranked 14th out of 63 rated countries, the same as the previous year, according to the National Development Commission. China ranks third in the Asia-Pacific region, second only to Hong Kong and Singapore.

Among the four categories of competitiveness evaluated by IMD, China's "government effectiveness" ranks the best, ranking 10th in the world; "economic performance" and "enterprise efficiency" have improved by 3 and 1 respectively, while "infrastructure" has dropped 2 places.

In the category of "economic performance", the ranking of "domestic economy" rose 3 places due to GDP growth, "international investment" improved 4 places, and "prices" advanced significantly 12 places due to price stability, while "international trade" and "employment" fell 3 places and 6 places respectively.

In the category of "government effectiveness", the rankings of "fiscal situation" and "institutional structure" have improved, reflecting the improvement of Guojia's credit rating and the stability of the exchange rate, while the "tax policy", "business regulations" and "social structure" have retrogressed.

The indicators of "labor market", "management" and "behavior, attitude and values" in "enterprise efficiency" have made obvious progress, which is the main reason for the progress of "enterprise efficiency". However, the rankings of "finance" and "productivity and efficiency" have declined.

In "infrastructure", except for "scientific construction" and "education", the other three items, such as "health care and environment", all declined.
