Dendrobium is an epiphyte, and its growth is greatly affected by its host. Dendrobium is different from both grain crops and other economic crops. Grain crops and economic crops absorb moisture and nutrients in the soil by taproot, lateral root and fibrous root, while Dendrobium absorbs nutrients and moisture in the air by bare aerial root. The carrier of grain and other crops is soil, and the carrier of Dendrobium is rock, gravel, trunk, bark or nitre.

According to different regions, different conditions, different varieties of texture requirements, planting dendrobium to first carry out plot arrangement,

Dendrobium should be planted in spring (March to April) and autumn (August to September), especially in spring rather than autumn. This is mainly to make full use of the spring in March, climate recovery, warm wind, spring rain, everything revives the golden season, suitable temperature and humidity, sunshine, rain and other conditions, conducive to stimulating the rapid germination of axillary buds at the base of Dendrobium stem, at the same time grow air roots for young buds to absorb nutrients and moisture, to achieve the purpose of root first and bud growth later. After all the preparations before planting are done, the best planting season can be selected to vigorously develop Dendrobium production.

1. Stone planting method

Select the stone crevices and stone grooves under the shady and wet forest where there is humus, wrap the roots of Dendrobium seedlings divided into small clusters with cow dung slurry, and stuff them into the rock crevices or grooves. When plugging, try to be stable so as not to fall. or directly putting the dendrobium seedlings into the drilled nest, uniformly compacting the base with the stone flowers when the nest is drilled, and firmly fixing the base and roots in the stone nest with the strength that the wind cannot fall. If cultivated on gravel, the method is to lay the seedlings flat on gravel, and then press the middle and lower parts of the seedlings with stones, the base and top are exposed, and the wind is still not moving. If there is stone dust in the place where the seedlings are planted, it should be washed with water or wiped with a damp cloth to improve the survival rate. planting dendrobium around stone surface, drilling a small nest, stepping fresh cow dung in advance, adding phosphorus fertilizer of 30:1 into fresh cow dung, adding water to step on and mixing, keeping water in the gaps of fingers, tightly sticking dendrobium seedlings to the small nest, grasping cow dung with one hand and placing it on the middle and lower part of dendrobium seedling stem, so that the seedlings are firmly attached to the stone, and the top and base of the seedlings are exposed.

2. Tree planting method

In the alpine broad-leaved forest, evergreen trees with thick stems, more water, lush crowns, loose bark and longitudinal cracks are selected.(such as yellow barrel, black cypress, persimmon, tung tree, green bar, camphor tree, nanmu, maple poplar tree, etc.), cut a shallow crack on the flat and thick trunk or branch depression or every 30~50 cm with a knife, and strip some bark, then fix the prepared dendrobium seedlings at the crack of the tree with bamboo nails or ropes, and then smear the roots and surrounding bark grooves with cow dung slurry (mix well with cow dung and slurry). In order to prevent wind blowing and rain washing, bamboo nails or bamboo strips are generally used to tie up 2 rings of ropes to fix dendrobium fibrous roots and plants on the trunk or tree branches, so that new roots grow closely along the tree body. When planting trees, it should be done from top to bottom. Decayed bark is not suitable for planting.

3. Shed planting method

Small gravel is mixed with a small amount of fine sand (charred mud and fine sand) to form a high border with a width of 40 cm, a length of 120 cm and a height of 17 cm. Dendrobium seedlings are planted in the border after being divided, and the density is 20 * 20 cm. A nest is covered with fine sand or small gravel with a thickness of 7 - 10 cm, and compacted. A 1.7-meter-long shade was set up on the ridge, and a straw curtain was hung on the sunny side to facilitate temperature and humidity regulation and fresh air ventilation, and to keep the ridge surface moist at all times.

In addition, suitable places can be selected for tree planting, wall planting, pot planting, or planting dendrobium on stone crevices, rock walls and artificial cultivation substrates.
