Soil is the basis of traditional Chinese medicine village cultivation, and most of the substances needed for plant growth and development are supplied through soil. Reasonable cultivation of suitable soil and continuous improvement of soil fertility can make the traditional Chinese medicine village obtain high quality and high yield.

I. soil and Fertilizer Services

The soil with high fertility is the basis of stable and high yield, so through the construction of water conservancy, deep and fine cropping, rational fertilization and other measures, soil fertility can be continuously improved and the potential fertility can be transformed into effective fertility.

II. Soil texture

1. Sandy soil: poor water retention capacity, easy to be affected by drought, fertilization needs a small amount, many times.

2. Clayey soil: strong ability to retain water and fertilizer, but poor air permeability, heavy stickiness when wet, not easy to cultivate, usually caking and easy to crack, which is not conducive to seed germination and plant growth.

3. Loam soil: between clayey soil and sandy soil, the soil is loose, good air permeability, good ability of water and fertilizer conservation, easy to cultivate, suitable for the growth of most medicinal materials.

4. Soil acidity and alkalinity: traditional Chinese medicine has a certain range of adaptation to soil acidity and alkalinity, beyond which it will grow poorly or even die. Most Chinese herbs are suitable to grow in neutral and weakly alkaline soil.

The acidity and alkalinity of the soil is not constant and can be changed gradually through appropriate measures.
