Silky Chicken is a specialty of Taihe County, Jiangxi Province, also known as Taihe Black Chicken, Wushan Chicken, Bamboo Chicken and so on. It is native to the northern foot of Wushan Mountain in Taihe County. It is famous for its "ten" characteristics, such as clump crown, tasseled head, green ear, beard, silk hair, hairy feet, five claws, black skin, black meat and black bone, as well as extremely high nutritional value and medicinal value. let's take a look at the breeding technology of silky chicken.

Breeding prospect

Silky chicken is a precious medicinal local chicken breed in China, and it is the main raw material of Wuji Baifeng Pill, a traditional Chinese medicine medicine for gynecological diseases. it is famous at home and abroad for its filamentous feathers as white as snow, black skin, muscle and periosteum and unique medicinal value. it also has the characteristics of gentle temperament, poor leap, strong adaptability, beautiful appearance, fresh meat and so on. However, the production performance is low and needs to be improved urgently.

Production performance

1. Meat production: the growth rate, egg weight and feed nutrition level of silky chickens are closely related to each other. For example, at the age of 5 months, the body weight of rooster reaches 70.23-80.62% of that of annual rooster, and that of hen is 82.53-87.73%. The semi-clean slaughter rate of rooster is 88.35%, the slaughter rate of full chamber is 75.86%, and that of hen is 84.18% and 69.50%, respectively.

2. Laying eggs: the first day of laying is 170 to 205 days, the annual egg production is 75 to 150, and the egg weight is 37.56 to 46.85 grams. Reproductive performance: the mating ratio of male and female is 1: 15: 17, the fertilization rate of fertilized eggs is 87-89%, and the hatching rate of fertilized eggs is 75-86%. The brooding rate at the age of 60 days was 78.94%.

Chicken house construction

1. The chicken coop generally chooses the place where the transportation is convenient, the road is smooth, the water is abundant, and there are no noise and pollution sources around the chicken coop. There are many forms of chicken coop, family breeding generally choose open chicken coop or large shed type chicken coop. The open chicken house is 20-30 meters long, 6-9 meters wide and 4-5 meters high. it is made of brick. there are two convection windows in each coop and one door in every 2-to-3 rooms. for epidemic prevention and cleaning, the floor is made of cement.

2. The construction of the large-scale chicken house is similar to that of the vegetable plastic greenhouse, which is built with cement rods and bamboo poles, with a height of 2.5 to 3.5 meters, covered with double-layer plastic film, and some put crop straw between the double-layer plastic film to enhance the ability to protect against cold and heat. In winter, the chicken house is closed with plastic film, and in summer, it is closed with nylon net for easy ventilation.

3. Rural families raise chickens in the form of flat raising on the ground or off the ground, which is generally raised at a height of 70 centimeters and 100 centimeters above the ground, and chicken beds made of strips of wood or bamboo are built. Other facilities needed for raising black-bone chickens include food troughs, water supply facilities, and large-scale household farmers, as well as ventilation facilities, heating facilities and light equipment.

Chick feeding

1. Disinfection: generally 0-7 weeks of age is the brooding period, and the nursery should be thoroughly disinfected before brooding. The surrounding walls and floors are first disinfected with 3% coal tar saponification solution, and then whitened with 10% lime milk. Finally, each square meter is fumigated with formalin (containing 40% formaldehyde) 14ml (containing 40% formaldehyde), 20ml water, heated and evaporated for fumigation and sealed for 1 week or 2 days. Choose strong chicks with strong physique and eliminate weak chicks with disease and underdevelopment to raise them.

2. Drinking water: 24 to 36 hours after coming out of the shell, start drinking with warm water. There are 2 45-liter tower drinking fountains for every 100 chicks. 0.01% potassium permanganate can be added to the first few times of drinking water, and 5% glucose or sucrose can be added to the chicks after long-distance transportation to increase the energy of the chicks.

3. Feeding: the chicks began to feed millet and broken rice soaked in boiling water, and began to feed chicks compound feed 2-3 days later. Feed Qintian less on the first day, then 5-6 times a day, then 4 times a day after 6 weeks. The feeding time is relatively fixed. While feeding compound feed, about 10% green fodder can be added in order to save cost.

4. Temperature: chicks are sensitive to temperature. The indoor temperature should be controlled at 22 ℃ at the initial stage of brooding, close to room temperature at the age of 3 weeks, and the lowest room temperature should be kept at 18 ℃. The relative humidity of 60% to 65% is maintained in the brooding room, and too dry and too wet are not conducive to the growth of chicks. 1-day-old chicks maintained 23-24 hours of light, 4-14-day-old chicks maintained 16-19 hours of light, and 15-day-old chicks maintained 8-9 hours of light. The artificial supplementary light was carried out when the sunshine was insufficient, and the light intensity was controlled at 25 × 40 watts of incandescent lamp every 15 square meters. the artificial supplementary light was strong in the first week and weak in the other weeks.

5. Density: the nursery room should be regularly ventilated to prevent harmful gases from accumulating indoors, and attention should be paid not to make the indoor temperature fluctuate greatly during ventilation. The feeding density of chicks varies according to the size and feeding mode of chicks. At the age of 2 weeks, 30 rats per square meter were raised on the ground, 25 rats per square meter at the age of 3-4 weeks, and 20 animals per square meter at the age of 5-6 weeks. The chicks should cut off their beaks twice at the age of 10 days and 12 weeks respectively. In the whole process of feeding, we often do a good job in disease prevention, daily epidemic prevention, and timely injection of various vaccines.
