Chicken infectious laryngotracheitis is an acute, contagious upper respiratory tract infectious disease caused by infectious laryngotracheitis virus, which is characterized by dyspnea, coughing and coughing up exudates containing blood samples. the swelling, bleeding and erosion of the throat and tracheal mucosa can be seen during the autopsy, which spreads quickly and the mortality rate is high. let's take a look at the prevention and treatment of infectious laryngotracheitis.

Release feature

The incubation period of natural infection of infectious laryngotracheitis was 6-12 days, and 2-4 days after artificial trachea inoculation. the incubation period was related to the virulence of the virus strain. At the initial stage of the disease, several diseased chickens often die suddenly, with nasal juice, translucent, tears in the eyes, conjunctivitis, followed by characteristic respiratory symptoms, wet rales, coughing, wheezing sounds, sick chickens squatting on the ground or perch, head and neck forward and upward, mouth open, try to inhale each time, there is a wheezing cry. Severe cases, high dyspnea, spastic cough, can cough up bloody mucus, can contaminate beak horn, face and head feathers.

Disease process

The most acute cases of infectious laryngotracheitis can die in about 24 hours, most of them are 5-10 days or longer, the undead recover after 8-10 days, and some can become infected chickens. When some less virulent strains cause the disease, the epidemic is relatively mild, the incidence is low, the symptoms are mild, but lethargy, slow growth, reduced egg production, conjunctivitis, suborbital sinusitis, rhinitis and tracheitis. The course of the disease is longer, which can be as long as 1 month. The mortality rate is generally low (2%), and most diseased chickens can withstand it. If there are bacterial secondary infections and stress factors, the mortality rate will increase.

Field diagnosis

1. Chicken infectious laryngotracheitis often occurs suddenly and spreads rapidly. Adult chickens occur most frequently, the incidence is high, and death varies greatly due to different conditions.

2. The clinical symptoms of infectious laryngotracheitis are typical, such as open mouth breathing, wheezing, rales, coughing bloody mucus and inhaling head forward.

3. During the autopsy of chicken infectious laryngotracheitis, catarrhal and hemorrhagic inflammatory lesions were found in the trachea, and the latter was the most characteristic, and a different number of blood clots could be seen in the trachea.

Prevention and cure method

1. Treatment: 1000 adult birds can be injected with Longda tripeptide each set, and antibiotics are used to prevent secondary infection. Feeding and management appliances and henhouses should be disinfected. Sick chickens should not be raised in mixed groups with susceptible chickens.

2. Disinfection treatment: breeding and management appliances and henhouses are disinfected. Chickens of unknown origin should be isolated and observed. Several susceptible chickens can be raised together with them for 2 weeks. No disease is found, and it is proved that there is no poison. Only then can the chickens be raised in mixed groups.

3. Eliminate sick chickens: sick chickens should not be raised in mixed groups with susceptible chickens, and recovered chickens that have endured should be poisoned and detoxified within a certain period of time, so it is necessary to strictly control the contact between susceptible chickens and convalescent chickens, and it is best to eliminate sick chickens.

4. Improve immunity: chickens naturally infected with infectious laryngotracheitis virus can produce strong immunity, which can be obtained for at least 1 year, or even lifelong immunity. The protective effect of susceptible chickens can range from half a year to one year after vaccination.

5. Vaccination: in areas where infectious laryngotracheitis is prevalent, attenuated vaccine against infectious laryngotracheitis can be considered, nasal and eye drops (also with drinking water), according to the instructions for use of the vaccine.
