In order to effectively prevent the flow of non-food chemicals into the food chain, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) announced today (28) that it would conduct a joint inspection of 13 chemicals listed as poisons announced last year, including "malachite green", "maleic acid" and so on. Sixteen new chemicals were announced as category IV toxicants, including 14 common pigments with food safety risks, such as "Sudan Red", and two persistent organic pollutants regulated with reference to international conventions.

It was announced last year that 13 poisons are common in aquatic products, black tea and sweets.

In the past, in order to improve the color of food, the industry would use "rose red B" on red turtle radish, sweet dumplings, candy, yellow radish and noodles, and also add "α-benzopyranone" (coumarin) to increase the aroma of black tea drinks. And to add "malachite green" to maintain the survival rate of aquatic products such as fish, shrimp and crabs, but the Toxicology and Chemical substances Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the "Chemical Bureau") on September 26, 106, it was announced that 13 chemicals including rose red B (such as Table 1 below) were toxic chemicals and were listed as the focus of inspection this year.

The EPA announced that it would tighten regulations on the use of chemicals in food and conduct joint inspections of chemical raw materials companies. (from left to right, Xie Yanru, Xu Fu, Lin Jinfu, Wang Zhongshu)
