Tea red leaf spot is a high-temperature and humid disease, which begins to occur from May to June, and the disease peak period is from July to August. In summer, tea trees are in favor of the disease because of water deficit and reduced disease resistance. The branches and leaves of tea trees grow luxuriantly and transpiration is large. In case of drought, the root water supply is insufficient, and it is also easy to be attacked by pathogens. Let's take a look at how to control tea red leaf spot.

Symptoms of red leaf spot in tea

Tea red leaf spot occurred in all tea areas all over the country, mainly harmful to leaves. Young leaves, adult leaves, old leaves infected, mostly from the leaf tip or leaf edge began to produce light brown spots, and then extended to the half-leaf or the whole leaf, forming a large irregular spot, the color of the spot is more consistent, showing dark reddish brown to reddish brown, the edge has a dark brown uplift line, and the boundary between the healthy part and the healthy part is very obvious. In the later stage, the disease part produces slightly protruding black spots, that is, the conidium of the pathogen.

Spread of Red Leaf spot in Tea

The pathogen overwintered in the diseased tea leaves with mycelium and conidia, and the disease began from May to June, and the disease was at its peak from July to August. The disease spot mostly occurred on the tender leaves, which was initially a light brown round watery spot. After that, the disease spot spread, the color changed from light brown to brown, and sometimes several disease classes synthesized larger patches or spread to the whole leaf, causing a large number of scorched and shedding leaves.

Control of Red Leaf spot in Tea

1. Advocating the application of enzyme bacteria or EM active bio-organic fertilizer, improving soil physical and chemical properties and preserving water and fertilizer are the fundamental measures for the prevention and control of the disease.

2. Summer drought should be irrigated in time, shade trees should be planted reasonably, direct sunlight should be reduced and sunburn should be prevented.

3. Spray 1500 times of 50% carbendazim wettable powder or 70% carbendazim wettable powder and 36% thiophanate methyl suspension before the summer drought.
