A few days ago, Wang Jian, head of Xiangzhaozhuang Ruifengyuan Fruit and vegetable Professional Cooperative in Xiajin County, Shandong Province, called and said that cucumbers are really called "yellow" melons this year, and the whole strips have turned yellow. The author went to the field and found that there were no disease spots on cucumber leaves and strips, which could rule out the possibility of infectious disease, but judged to be a physiological disease, mainly due to the yellowing of cucumber strips caused by poor root system development. It is suggested that vegetable farmers should take the following measures to deal with it:

First, water thoroughly before planting.

Many vegetable farmers are greedy for convenience when planting, often planting in dry soil and then watering. The disadvantage of this is that although there is sufficient water and fertilizer in the surface layer of the soil, it is easy to reduce the soil temperature, and the root system only develops laterally in the shallow surface layer, which is disadvantageous to the root system development in depth. If the root system is watered before planting, the root system can be induced to develop in depth, and at the same time, the soil moisture can be watered first and then the greenhouse can be closed to raise temperature. When planting, the ground temperature is not too low, which is more conducive to root growth and slow seedling growth.

Second, do not remove the lower leaves prematurely

Most of the nutrients needed by the root system are provided by the middle and lower leaves, so the lower leaves should not be removed prematurely, and leaf diseases should be strictly prevented and controlled to ensure the normal photosynthesis of leaves.

Third, rational fertilization, root maintenance and root protection

After proper application of base fertilizer, trenching and deep application of biological fertilizer at the planting site can improve soil, prevent diseases, promote the growth of new roots and promote the development of roots to form sturdy roots. After entering the melon-bearing stage, the vegetative growth and reproductive growth of cucumber are synchronized. When applying fertilizer to ensure that it does not harm the root system, we should not only consider attacking trees, but also pay attention to attacking melon strips, so we should not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer, but should apply appropriate amount of high-quality compound fertilizer. In addition, if the temperature is too high, the amount of chemical fertilizer should be reduced and biological fertilizer should be applied to ensure the normal growth and development of the root system.
