Management Methods of Pigs in Winter

1. Increase feeding density appropriately. When the feeding density is high, it is beneficial to increase the temperature in the house.

2. The outer walls of the pigsty should be thick and tight. The rear wall, gable wall and front wall of pigsty should be equipped with heat preservation facilities in winter. Crop straw can be stacked and soil can be temporarily built. It is best to thicken the peripheral four walls when the pigsty is initially built.

3. The floor of the pigsty should be dry. Waste water should be removed in time and cleaned up. In order to facilitate drying, pigsty should be made into concrete floor.

4. Additional bed. In the piglet stage, where conditions exist, it is best to use warm bed plates such as wood boards, bamboo boards, thickened fiberboards, etc., and cement prefabricated boards can be laid without conditions.

5. Do not let pigs drink cold water. Cold water should be boiled to warm water before pigs drink it.

6. Increase the number of feeds. The purpose of increasing the feeding frequency is to increase the feed intake relatively, so as to make up for the weight deficit caused by fat and intramuscular metabolism heat production in pigs due to low temperature. Where there are conditions, it is best to take ad libitum. Where regular feeding occurs, an additional feeding may be added at night.

7. Moderately increase energy levels in feed. can increase the energy level of the original feed by about 10 percent. Big pigs lower, little pigs higher. Piglets can add fat high-energy feed, big pigs can increase the amount of corn and other common energy feed in the formula.

8. Increase feeding density appropriately. When the feeding density is high, it is beneficial to increase the temperature in the house.
