Due to the influence of climate and environment, duck breeding in winter is easy to have high production cost, low survival rate and unsatisfactory economic benefit. Raising duck benefit in winter needs to solve the following problems.

sanitation and disinfection

Sanitary disinfection is an important link in basic management of duck breeding. Entering winter, the weather is changeable, rainy and snowy weather, temperature drops, resulting in duck adaptability and body resistance reduced. Therefore, sanitation and disinfection work must be timely, thorough and effective. Special attention should be paid to the environmental sanitation and disinfection of small and medium-sized duck houses to prevent small and medium-sized ducks from contracting diseases and poor growth in the early stage. Disinfection of ducklings in duck houses every day is beneficial to the purification of ground, bedding grass and air in duck houses, and prevents ducklings from infecting duck infectious serositis and other frequent diseases through respiratory tract and damaged skin.

The living space of ducks in winter is mostly indoor, and the cleanliness of indoor sanitation is the key to solve the overall sanitation level of duck breeding in winter. Practice proved that the drying and sanitation of bedding grass directly affected the weight gain and feed meat ratio of commercial ducks. Wet bedding grass will produce a large amount of ammonia, causing air pollution in duck houses, leading to the prevalence of duck diseases, affecting growth and development.

temperature and ventilation

To solve and deal with the problems of temperature and ventilation correctly in winter and the relationship between them will directly affect the overall production level. In general farms, heat preservation mainly depends on simple fire, agricultural film, etc. to adjust, according to technical standards, strictly adjust the indoor temperature of ducks of different ages. Before 7 days of age, temperature 34℃~27℃;8 days of age ~21 days of age, temperature 26℃~18℃;22 days of age to market, normal temperature (15℃~20℃).

Ventilation or not should be determined according to the concentration of ammonia and carbon dioxide in the duck house. Generally, if you don't feel dazzling and difficult to breathe when you enter the duck house, and the temperature is appropriate, you can use a small ventilation hole above the roof of the duck house for ventilation. If you feel dazzling and difficult to breathe when you enter the duck house, it means that the concentration of ammonia and carbon dioxide in the air is too high, and you should find out the reasons, such as the dryness of the grass mat, the sanitary condition of the drinking water feeder, disinfection, etc. Any problem should be dealt with in time, and at the same time, open the ceiling ventilation facilities or vents for atmospheric ventilation. Avoid vertical and horizontal ventilation, which will cause a sudden drop in indoor temperature and lead to ducks catching cold.

Drinking water and water temperature control

Water is an essential substance in the growth process of ducks. It should always be ensured that ducks are provided with easy intake and clean drinking water, and attention should be paid to the temperature of drinking water, especially during brooding. The ideal drinking water temperature for ducklings is 20℃~25℃, and the ideal drinking water temperature for adult ducks is 10℃ or slightly above. Don't let ducks drink ice water in winter. If duck drinking water is reduced, 24 hours to 28 hours will cause duck food intake to decrease, thus affecting the growth rate, and the resistance of ducks to diseases will also decrease accordingly.
