Zheng Wencan, mayor of Taoyuan, attended a press conference on the launch of Taoyuan's first 100% green photovoltaic roof industrial zone at the municipal government on the afternoon of the 18th. Mayor Zheng Wencan said that there are 27 manufacturers in Taoyuan Environmental Protection Science and Technology Park. except for 4 that have not yet set up factories, 23 resident manufacturers have responded to the green energy policy by setting up solar photovoltaic systems on the roof, becoming the first 100% green photovoltaic roof industrial zone in Taiwan. These all-green photovoltaic roofs have a capacity of 5MW, annual power generation of 5 million kilowatt-hours, and annual carbon reduction equivalent to seven Da'an Forest Parks, representing the mission and determination of environmental manufacturers to promote green energy. The municipal government will continue to promote the installation of photoelectric roofs in 29 large industrial zones and complete the photoelectric pond project to enable Taoyuan Green to move forward.
Mayor Zheng Wencan pointed out that Taoyuan is a major electricity user in Taiwan, using about 13.6% electricity, and it is also a city that strives to promote green energy. In terms of solar photovoltaics, the municipal government plans to develop optoelectronic schools, photovoltaic roofs, photovoltaic factories, photovoltaic ponds, and so on, and factories and enterprises are also willing to respond to municipal policies, such as the 23 manufacturers stationed in Taoyuan Huanke Park, including resource recovery, renewable energy, waste disposal and other industries.
