Yushu flowers, also known as sedum tree, glass tree, fleshy evergreen, etc., are succulent subshrubs of the genus crassulaceae, with tall and straight crowns, green stems and leaves, and terminal white flowers, which are very elegant and chic. If equipped with pots and gravel to make small bonsai, the decoration is more beautiful. If you take good care of it, it will bloom every year, if it is not good, it will not bloom once every 20 years. Next, let's take a look at the breeding methods and points for attention of Yushu flowers.

Growth habits of Yushu Flower

Yushu flower is native to southern Africa, like the warm, dry, sunny natural environment, afraid of strong light, slightly shady, not cold-resistant, winter temperature should not be lower than 7 ℃. It is better to grow in a fertile sandy loam with good drainage. In late spring and early summer, the tubular flowers are 2 cm in diameter, white or light pink, but the juice of the leaves is poisonous.

Propagation methods of Yushu Flower

Yushu flowers are often propagated by cutting, which can be cut by twigs or leaves, which can be carried out during the growth period, but the cuttings should be dried before cutting. Softwood cuttings can cut the growing and full twigs in the growing season, dry them slightly, insert them into plain sand and sandy soil, maintain a certain humidity after cutting, and take root in 20-30 days. In the growing season, 1-2-year-old leaves are broken off from the base, dried for 8-10 hours, and inserted into plain sand or sandy soil, preferably obliquely, with a depth of 1 inch, 4 leaves, 1 inch, 3 leaves. Spray a small amount of water after insertion, put it in a ventilated place, and often keep it slightly wet. It can take root and sprout in about 30 days.

The Culture method of Yushu Flower

1. Flowerpots: Yushu flowers can use muddy flowerpots, plastic pots, porcelain pots and ceramic pots. In order to coordinate with family decoration, they can be cultivated in porcelain pots. The size is generally 16-28 cm in diameter. In the north, it is usually dry, and it is good to use porcelain pots. In the south, it is recommended to use earthen pots, because Yushu is succulent and prone to black rot if it accumulates more water.

2. Soil: Yushu flower is not strict with the soil, and the sandy soil with loose and good drainage is suitable. The basin soil was prepared with 5 parts of rotten leaf soil, 2 parts of garden soil and 3 parts of river sand. Extremely resistant to drought and avoid excessive moisture in the soil. Like dry air and dry soil, avoid moist soil, basin soil moist easy to cause rhizome rot.

3. Watering: the basin soil is often kept moist during the growth of Yushu flowers. If the drainage of the basin soil is not smooth, and the watering is too much, the roots will rot because of stagnant water. And the basin soil is too dry, the weather is muggy, and the air is not well ventilated, which can easily cause fallen leaves. The amount of water should be controlled according to temperature, and watering in summer can be more appropriate. at the same time, attention should be paid to indoor ventilation and cooling to promote growth. Watering should be controlled in winter, usually once every 7-10 days.

4. Fertilization: Yushu flower does not have high requirements for fertilizer. After the new stem grows in spring, topdressing can be started. In the growing season, 15 times of rotten liquid fertilizer mixed with 1000 times of potassium dihydrogen phosphate, or 1000 times of "Huaduoduo" general fertilizer can be applied once a month. No fertilization is applied when the summer temperature is high and the winter temperature is low. When the plant shape is larger, only base fertilizer is applied, no topdressing is needed to control the height. Base fertilizer can be used with mature soybean cake fertilizer, soybean milk dregs and other organic fertilizer.

5, warm light: Yushu is more shady, family maintenance can be placed indoors where there is no direct light, or with bright scattered light. The room temperature is kept at 6: 10 ℃. Too high temperature is easy to cause overgrowth, leaf shedding or diseases and insect pests. Low temperature in winter can promote flower bud differentiation, and plants go into dormancy when the temperature is below 5 ℃.

Four Seasons Management of Yushu Flower

1. In spring, the seedlings of Yushu flower grow rapidly, the pots are changed once a year, and the pots of the formed plants are changed once every 2 to 3 years. The time of basin change takes place when the temperature is stable above 10 ℃ in spring. Stop watering for several days before changing the basin to dry the soil and remove the basin. As its branches and leaves are rich in water and easy to break, they should be handled gently to avoid breaking plants. After taking off the basin, cut off the dead roots and cut the roots, dry them for 1 or 2 days and plant them. After planting, put it in a semi-shady place, do not water temporarily, water slightly after 2-3 days, and keep the basin soil partial.

2. Summer: Yushu flowers like strong light, do not need shade when the summer temperature is not high, and maintain a proper water supply. When arranged indoors, you should maintain a certain amount of light and pay attention to indoor ventilation. The growth is stagnant when the summer temperature is higher (more than 35 ℃). Attention should be paid to water control to prevent too much high temperature water from rotting roots, cover up the light around noon and stop fertilization. Fertilization can be continued after the temperature is cool at the end of summer.

3. Autumn: Yushu flowers should be cultured in places with sufficient light in autumn. After the basin soil is dry and watered, the amount of water can be gradually reduced when the weather is getting cooler, stop fertilization, and make the basin soil dry and not dry. When the temperature drops to about 5 ℃, people should be moved to the closed balcony with light or cultivated in the room.

4. Winter: the indoor temperature of Yushu flower should be kept above 5 ℃ in winter, and its growth was stagnant at this time. Potted plants should be placed in the windowsill with sufficient light or closed balcony for cultivation, pay attention to water control, so that the basin soil is dry but not dry, do not fertilize. Conditional pots can be moved into the greenhouse, no conditions can also be sealed with plastic film cover, but need to pay attention to the humidity in the cover, found that the water is too wet, it is necessary to remove the cover in time to change air to prevent rotten leaves.

Matters needing attention of Yushu flower

1. Yushu flowers like warm and sunny environment. Under indoor scattered light conditions, Yushu flowers can grow well, avoid strong light, and are prone to sunburn in hot summer, causing leaves to shrink and turn yellow.

2. Yushu flowers begin to grow again after the increase of air temperature in spring. Sufficient light should be maintained and the amount of water should be increased step by step. When the outdoor temperature is stable above 15 ℃, it can be cultured on the balcony with light but no rain.

3. During the growth period of Yushu flower, watering should be controlled to prevent the pot soil from rotting when the soil is too wet. It is appropriate to water the soil after it is dry. Rain Water should reduce the frequency of watering in more weather.

5. During the growth period, the Yushu flower is moderately pruned to the over-long and over-dense branches, keeping the plant well-proportioned and strong.

6. Yushu flowers are usually moved indoors in the middle of October, where the light is sufficient and warm, and the minimum overwintering temperature should not be less than 5 ℃. Watering should be strictly controlled to keep the basin soil from drying out.

7. Yushu flowers turn to the pot every semimonthly to avoid the deviation of branches and leaves and affect their beauty. if the light is not enough, more attention should be paid to prevent damp and hot rotten roots and defoliation.

8. The juice of Yushu flower is poisonous. don't let young children eat it by mistake, otherwise it will cause skin redness, swelling, pain and blistering, and blindness can be caused if accidentally splashed into the eyes.
