Last Updated: 2024/11/05, The reasons for the softness of tiger skin orchid leaves are strong light, frequent watering, low temperature and diseases and insect pests. If the plant is exposed to strong light, the plant can be moved to a shaded place; if the watering is too frequent, the watering times can be reduced; if the temperature is too low, the temperature can be raised to about 20-30 ℃; if it is infected with diseases and insect pests, it is necessary to clean up the diseased leaves and spray anthers in time.

1. Strong light exposure

Reason: Tiger skin orchid is a shade-tolerant plant, does not need too much sunlight, in the case of strong light direct or exposure, will form sunspots or yellow leaves, resulting in soft leaves and other diseases.

Solution: move the plant to a shaded and ventilated place for breeding or shading treatment, and choose the time when the light is soft in the morning and evening to be placed in the sun.

2. Watering frequently

Reason: it is a desert plant, does not need too much water, watering too frequently will lead to rotten roots and yellow leaves and other phenomena.

Solution: grasp the principle of dry rather than wet when watering. If the soil is loose, it can be watered 1-2 times a week and once a week in winter. If there is too much water, it can be placed in a ventilated place to raise the bottom of the basin.

3. The temperature is too low

Reason: it has relatively high requirements for temperature. Generally, when the temperature is lower than 13 ℃, the growth will be terminated during the dormancy period. As the time goes on, the plant will grow badly and the leaves will become soft and yellowing.

Solution: keep the temperature at 20-30 ℃ as far as possible to maintain its normal growth; the lowest temperature in winter should not be lower than 10 ℃, otherwise the plant will be frostbitten and easily cause death of the whole plant.

4. Diseases and insect pests

Reason: plants infected with some diseases and insect pests can also lead to soft leaves, such as bacterial soft rot, the disease causes the plant leaves to be light yellowish green or grayish yellow, and water-like soft rot spots appear on the stems near the ground.

Solution: remove the diseased leaves in time and spray 600 times of green milk copper every 7-10 days for 1-2 months.
