Last Updated: 2024/11/05, There are many reasons for the rotten roots of a leaf orchid: if the basin soil is not breathable, it should be replaced with a basin soil with good air permeability. If the amount of water is too large, then reduce the amount of water, there can be no stagnant water. If it is caused by a lower temperature, increase the culture temperature appropriately. If it is caused by a large amount of fertilizer application, then control the amount of fertilizer application.

I. change the soil

Reason: a leaf orchid pot soil is airtight, the root can not breathe normally, once the root is lack of oxygen, it will easily lead to root rot.

Solution: can be replaced with good breathable basin soil, irregular loosening of the soil, to help the orchid grow better.

Second, reduce watering

Reason: too much daily watering will make the soil too moist, coupled with the impervious environment, water will always be stored in the basin soil, a leaf orchid root can not breathe, there will be rotting roots.

Solution: to ensure that the water is sufficient, but there can be no stagnant water, to ensure that the basin soil is moist, you can often spray water to the leaves, reduce the amount of water in autumn and winter, and keep the basin soil slightly dry in winter, you can stop watering according to the situation.

Third, raise the temperature

Reason: it will be frostbitten when the temperature is low in winter, and the cold tolerance of Cymbidium is relatively weak, and the rotting root will appear in the environment of low temperature for a long time.

Solution: increase the culture temperature appropriately in winter, at least not less than 5 ℃, or you can put it indoors so that you won't get frostbite.

IV. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

Reason: often apply a large amount of fertilizer or high concentration of fertilizer, it will be difficult to absorb, or apply raw fertilizer to it, there will be a similar situation, which may burn the roots and cause the roots to rot.

Solution: control the amount of fertilizer, do not apply too much fertilizer at one time, generally apply thin cake fertilizer and water once a week, and it is best to stop fertilizing it when the temperature is low in winter.
