Yesterday, a farmer sent me a message: "teacher Fu, what crops have I planted in the past two years and what crops have lost money? I want to change them completely this year. I heard that the economic benefits of planting green onions in the past two years are quite good. I want to plant green onions. Everyone said, if you want to have a high yield of green onions, the selling price is high, it is critical to master the planting density of green onions. Can you tell us how much it is more appropriate to plant green onions?"

In fact, due to the different varieties, cultivation methods and product requirements of Welsh onions, the cultivation density of Welsh onions is completely different. Reasonable planting density of Welsh onions can effectively improve the commerciality and yield of Welsh onions.

Today, I can only introduce to growers according to some of my commonly used green onion planting density experience and rules.

If farmers plant green onions with high green onion and white type, it is best to plant them sparsely, and if they are short and white green onions, they should be closely planted.

Farmers in the planting mode, if the ditch planting green onions, the density should be small, if the border planting green onions density should be high.

If the density of spring onions cultivated by farmers is higher, the density of cultivated green onions is smaller, and the density of growing period is lower than that of short growing period.

This is a common rule of planting density of green onions. The specific planting methods of green onions are as follows:

(1) planting green onion in trench.

For high green onion varieties, the suitable furrow distance is 80cm to 100cm. The reason is that the ditch distance is too narrow, which is not conducive to green onion cultivation. Too wide is unreasonable for land use and affects the yield per unit area of green onion. 18000 green onions are planted per mu.

For the cultivation of short and white Welsh onion varieties, the furrow distance of 50 cm to 70 cm is the best, and 22000 green onions are planted per mu.

(2) planting spring onions on the border.

Common green onions are planted in flat rows or pinch, with row spacing of 20 cm, plant spacing of 3 cm, 60000 plants per mu, and pinch spacing of 20 cm, 5 plants per pinch.

These are some of my experiences in growing green onions over the past few years. If you want to know more about agricultural technology, please click "learn more" for agro-technical consultation!
