The Summer Solstice just finished, the ancients have the saying that "the Summer Solstice bears hardships". In fact, in summer, because of the hot and dry weather, it is really good to eat bitter melons and fruits. If you can eat a pot of bitter melon grown by yourself, it will be delicious and healthy.

So, today, share the balcony method of growing balcony to flower friends who like to grow flowers and vegetables and grow melons.

Balsam pear usually blossoms from June to July and ripens from July to August. Its leaves are green and bright, the fruit shape is exquisite and lovely, and the melon color is orange and yellow. When the fruit is ripe, green leaves, yellow flowers and orange fruits set off each other, charming and moving.

Balsam pear is generally planted, and flower friends can do it in spring. It can be sowed in the seedbed or directly in a small basin or planting place, sowing 1 grain in each pot and hole, and covering soil 2 cm after sowing. It takes only 3 months from sowing to fruiting.

After sowing, when the seedling grows a true leaf, it can be planted in a large basin with a diameter of 20-30 cm. In addition, the maintenance of balsam pear, avoid high temperature, when the temperature is more than 30 ℃, the growth and fruit is poor. Balsam pear is not cold-tolerant, and the low temperature below 15 ℃ is disadvantageous to the growth and fruiting.

However, balsam pear like the sun, flower friends should choose sunny land to grow and blossom and bear fruit. Balsam pear is not tolerant to shade, and the plant grows excessively under poor light, which affects flowering and pollination, resulting in bud drop and flower drop.

To maintain balsam pear, adequate water supply should be provided during the growing period, especially during the fruiting period, so as to keep the basin soil moist. However, balsam pear also avoid wet waterlogging, watering should be "dry and wet", to avoid the pot soil is too wet and cause rotten roots.

After emergence, nitrogen-based thin fertilizer was applied for 2-3 times to promote the seedlings to thrive. The fertilizer combined with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was applied once a month before flowering to promote flowering and fruiting. Due to the rapid growth of branches and leaves, large amount of flowering and fruiting, the fertility in the later growth stage should be sufficient, otherwise the plant will senescence prematurely, the leaf color will become lighter, the amount of flowering and fruit will be reduced, and the fruit will become smaller.

When the seedlings of balsam pear grow to 20 cm, set up a bracket or pull a rope to allow it to climb. Tendrils appear when 5-6 leaves grow and begin to wind. At this time, the heart should be removed to promote lateral branches, and the female flowers should bloom and bear fruit early. When the plant has strong growth potential and many lateral vines, the overdense branches and senescent leaves should be removed in time to facilitate ventilation and light transmission.
