According to the Global Entrepreneurship and Development Index (GEI) released by the US non-profit research institute Global Entrepreneurship and Development (GEDI) in 2017, Taiwan ranks 16th among the 137countries and second in the Asia-Pacific region, second only to Australia, and ahead of its main competitors Singapore, Japan, South Korea and neighboring countries such as Chinese mainland. On the afternoon of December 11, Taipei Mayor Ke Wenzhe attended the opening event of the "Flying Shida Creative Innovation Center". In addition to expressing his affirmation that the private sector had set up a new space to jointly promote innovation and entrepreneurship with the city government, it also said that a total of four bases have been operated and opened. Including: Taipei Innovation Laboratory (Taipei Co-space), Taipei Innovation Center (CIT), Xinfucho Cultural Market (UMKT), Tongan Market New Base (Tongan Market Startup Base). In addition, for the future development of emerging industries, there are also plans for Nangang bottle Cap Factory (Nangang Bottle Cap Factory), Taipei Digital Industrial Park (Taipei digiBlock), Financial Technology Innovation Park (i.e. Taiwan Power AR1 Base) and other bases, hoping to build various types of industrial clusters.
