According to the Taichung Municipal Bureau of Agriculture, Sydney is a temperate pear species endemic to the Lishan area of Taichung City. it covers an area of about 855 hectares and has an annual output of about 19000 metric tons. the average weight of each ordinary water pear is 200 to 300g, while the average weight of snow pear can reach 1000 grams.

The Taichung Municipal Bureau of Agriculture points out that snow pears originated in cold and alpine areas of Japan. They were introduced to Taiwan in 1985 and planted on pear trees such as New Century Pear, 20th Century Pear, and Xinxing Pear in Lishan. Sydney has a taste that almost melts in the mouth. After eating, there will be a slight fruity aroma in the mouth, and the climate of the Lishan area in Taichung is special, so the quality of the Sydney produced is quite good, even better than the place of origin.
