The orchid is the best growth period in spring, and the maintenance in spring is very important for the growth of the current year and even the next year. So in the spring of the recovery of all things, what should be written about the gentleman orchid?

Gentleman orchid

First, out of the room at the right time: the gentleman orchid who overwinters indoors should be moved to outdoor maintenance as the spring temperature picks up. The appropriate time to leave the room is generally around Ching Ming Festival in the temperate zone and about half a month in the cold area. You can also get out of the room when the temperature is above 15 ℃. Windows should be opened for ventilation 1 and 2 days before leaving the room, and after leaving the room, the leeward and semi-shade should be placed first. After gradually adapting to the external environment, it should be moved to the sunny and ventilated place to fully receive the light.

Second, change pot ramet: the pot change time of adult gentleman orchid is generally carried out after flowering in spring, and plants that do not bloom in spring can change pot when they come out of the room. After depotting, the persistent soil and withered roots were removed and replaced with new culture soil to increase nutrients and permeability. The stereotyped plants are still cultivated in the original pot, while the growing plants are cultivated in a larger pot. If there are tillering buds at the base of the plant, there are 3-4 leaves and the plant height is more than 10 cm, it should be combined with changing pots. Those who can take root are cut off from the mother plant with a sterilized knife, those who cannot take root are broken off by hand, and the wound is coated with sulfur powder or plant ash for antiseptic. The single plant with root is planted in a small basin, and those without root are cultivated with fine sand first, and then maintained in the basin after rooting.

Third, watering and fertilization: due to the rising temperature in spring and the plant entering the initial stage of growth, the water demand is increasing day by day, and the frequency and amount of water should be from less to more, but to keep the basin soil moist. After the slow growth of Cymbidium in winter, there are few nutrients in the body, especially after arrows and flowering, its nutrients are exhausted, so it is necessary to supplement nutrients timely and appropriately to meet the requirements of growth and development in spring. In spring, the plant is in the stage of new leaves and leaf length and width, and nitrogen fertilizer should be the main fertilizer. The rarefied liquid fertilizer is usually applied about 10 days after leaving the room, and the concentration is flexibly controlled according to the growth and temperature. If the compound fertilizer should be applied on the edge of the basin, the quantity should be less rather than more.

Fourth, promote buds and flowers: the gentleman orchid, which has the habit of drawing arrows in late winter and early spring and blooming in early spring, should increase indoor temperature and water 2-3 weeks before arrows in order to avoid arrows entrapment due to low temperature and affect flowering. Liquid fertilizer should be applied once every 7-10 days or compound fertilizer dominated by phosphorus and potassium should be applied once a month. In addition, 20 ℃ ~ 25 ℃ water can be used to irrigate the soil, and 25 ℃ water can be sprayed on the leaf surface to keep the indoor temperature at 10 ℃ ~ 15 ℃ as far as possible, which can promote the plant to shoot and bud quickly and blossom in time. As soon as the flower unfolds, it is necessary to water less, stop fertilizing, and move the plant to a low temperature place to prolong the viewing time.

Fifth, prevention and control of diseases and insect pests: with the rise of temperature, diseases and insect pests in the dormant period begin to spread, invade the plant and affect its growth and development. 0.3-0.5 Baume-sulfur mixture can be used to spray plant leaves and bulbs once every 10 days for 2 or 3 times in a row, which can not only prevent diseases, but also kill overwintering pests.

Maintenance methods of Magnolia in spring

Leave the room at the right time

In winter, the magnolia spends the winter indoors, and it is a good time to let the magnolia out of the room in spring.

As the temperature gradually picks up in spring, the best time for the orchid to leave the room is after Ching Ming Festival, but it will be delayed for about half a month in cold areas.

Remember that before leaving the room, you should first ventilate indoors for two days, adapt to the temperature outside in advance, and then gradually move out of the room, mainly so that the orchid can adapt to the changing environment. After moving out of the room, you must put it in a place with light for maintenance.

Change basin and separate plant

For mature orchids, the pots are usually changed after blooming in spring, or when they are moved out of the room.

First of all, after removing the pot, remove the old soil and withered roots, and replace it with new soil, which is larger than the original flowerpot so that the plant can grow again.

If the plant has roots, it is necessary to cut off the tillering buds of the roots with a sterilized knife, and those that cannot take roots can be broken off by hand, and then the wound is coated with sulfur powder to help prevent the plant from decay.

The tiller buds with roots are planted in a small basin, and those without roots need to be cultivated with fine sand before they can be maintained in the basin.

Watering and fertilizing

Because the temperature gradually picks up in spring, the plant will enter the early growth stage, so a lot of water is needed during the growing period, but don't overwater as long as you keep the basin soil moist.

Because of its slow growth in winter, Cymbidium has consumed a lot of nutrients, especially in the flowering period, its nutrients are almost left, and it must be replenished timely and appropriately, so that Cymbidium can grow better in spring.

All right, what are the most important points for spring maintenance? do you know?

The standard of the ideal variety of Cymbidium

What is the standard of the ideal gentleman orchid? The flower proverb tells us that "round, short, wide, thick, hard, flowers, bright, jump, greasy, tall".

"round" means that the head shape of the leaf should be round. That is, the egg type, without any sharp point. The whole plant type should be round, so as to face squarely like a fan, and the leaves are not seven long and eight short.

"short" refers to the length of the blade, which should be about 200 mm. The neck of the leaf is short and retracted quickly. A single leaf looks like a ping-pong racket.

"width" means that the width of the blade itself should be more than 100 mm. The two longitudinal veins should be wide, about 5 mm or more.

"thick" refers to the thickness of the blade, which should be more than 2 mm.

"hard" refers to hardness and elasticity, feeling hard without bran.

"Flower" refers to the contrast between leaves and veins in color.

"bright" means that the leaves are shiny.

"Jump" refers to the degree of protuberance of leaf veins. It requires that the longitudinal and transverse veins are obviously protruding and sturdy, and the longitudinal and transverse veins intersect at right angles to form a regular concave and convex shape.

"greasy" refers to the delicate structure of the blade and the smooth feel.

"Ting" means that the leaves are straight and straight upward, the negatives are flat and not drooping, and the rest of the leaves grow equidistant accordingly, so as to achieve the perfect plant shape of "looking at a line from the side and facing squarely like a fan".

Soil fertilizer: Magnolia prefers loose and fertile neutral or weakly acidic humus soil. The cultivation soil can be mixed with 65% humus soil, 20% net sand and 15% fine furnace ash. The magnolia should be applied once in winter with solid fertilizer, less nitrogen fertilizer, more phosphate fertilizer and potash fertilizer. Eggshell powder and retting fish water is a good phosphate fertilizer, bran ash and soot are easily available potash. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer can also be applied to promote the germination of more new plants and leaves. Fertilization must be appropriate, do not apply thick fertilizer and unfermented raw fertilizer, otherwise, it is easy to cause leaf tip scorch or rot. In winter, if the new leaves are spotted and the roots are yellow, it means that there is too much fertilization, while the narrow, thin and light color of the new leaves is a sign of lack of fertilizer.

Watering: the soil should not be too dry or too wet. Every time it is watered, it must be thoroughly watered, and some more should be watered after budding. Every 20 days or so, combine watering with fermented bean cake water, fresh fish water and horseshoe water to combine watering and fertilization. Watering should be controlled when the room temperature is low to prevent the basin soil from being too wet, which will cause the rotten roots of the plant to die, but it can not make the basin soil too dry.

Heat preservation: the suitable temperature for the growth of Cymbidium in winter is 15 ℃ 20 ℃, which should not be lower than 10 min. The temperature should be kept at about 18 ℃ after scurrying, and the temperature difference between day and night should be about 10 ℃, otherwise the flower arrow will blossom if it does not reach a proper height, and it is easy to form a "sandwiched arrow". The magnolia should be moved indoors when the outdoor temperature is lower than 10 ℃ at night. When the indoor temperature is lower than 10 ℃, in addition to covering the surface of the basin soil with a layer of 1 cm thick charcoal powder, the flowerpot should also be placed in the indoor sunny warm place. When the indoor temperature is very low, cover the film on the flowerpot to raise temperature, but the temperature in the cover should not exceed 25 ℃, if it exceeds, it should be ventilated and cooled in time.

Lighting: although the gentleman orchid likes the semi-overcast environment, the longer the sunshine in winter, the better. During flowering, strong light will shorten the flowering period, while weak light can prolong it. It likes to be warm and cool, and avoids severe cold and heat. It generally grows well at a temperature of 18 ℃ and 20 ℃, and stops growing below 5 Mel. After the orchid enters the room, the light is limited and needs to be adjusted by manually moving the flowerpot. Under normal circumstances, the flowerpot should be placed indoors in the sunny place during the day so that the sun can shine on the plant. Before flowering, flowerpots should also be placed under fluorescent lamps to replenish light at night. Because the two rows of leaves of Cymbidium are opposite, if the light is in one position for a long time, it will make the leaves grow unevenly and affect the ornamental effect. Therefore, when adjusting the light, we should pay attention to the direction of the leaves and change to the sunny side every 10 days or so. There are two ways to arrange the flowerpot indoors: one is to make the leaf parallel to the sunny window, and the other is to make the leaf perpendicular to the sunny window, and the effect of the latter is better than the former.

Prolong the florescence: the flowering period of Cymbidium is mostly from December to March of the following year. The way to prolong the flowering period is to place the flower in a dark place when it is about to bloom, properly control the watering, and keep the temperature at 8 ℃ 12 min. In this way, the florescence can be prolonged by 10 mi for 20 days.

Gentleman orchids like cool and humid climates. In summer, if the orchid is to grow well, measures must be taken to create conditions conducive to the growth of the orchid.

Shading: summer should be placed under the outdoor shade, if you can hide from the direct sun at noon, and it is ideal to see the sun in the morning and evening.

Cooling: in addition to putting the magnolia in a ventilated place, put the magnolia basin in the pool or water (with a wooden board), and often spray water around the place and on the leaves of the plant, so that the magnolia grows in a small environment of less than 25 ℃ and a humidity of 60 / 70%.

Lose weight: when the temperature of the place where the gentleman orchid is kept above 25 ℃, it is necessary to lose weight or stop fertilizing properly, so as not to apply too much fertilizer to burn out the fleshy root, such as more fertilizer in spring, 1/2 of the pot soil can be changed from the top in summer, and then changed after autumn. If the temperature can be reduced to below 20 ℃, fertilizer can still be applied.

Watering: it is necessary to adhere to the principle of watering half-dry and watering thoroughly. Do not let water flow into the heart of the leaves, so as not to cause rotten heart disease and lead to "beheading".

Pest control: affected by insect pests, you can spray the foliar surface with 1000 Murray 1500 times dichlorvos solution.

The key points for the maintenance of the four seasons of the orchid:

Avoid wind blowing in spring, sun exposure in summer, rain and spray in autumn, low temperature and dryness in winter.

First, prepare potted soil. Cymbidium is a fleshy root, which requires loose, fertile and well-drained soil, and grows best in slightly acidic soil (PH value 6.2 / 6. 7). Rotten chicken manure and pond mud can be mixed according to 4 ∶ 6, and pine needles, rotten organic fertilizer and river sand should be mixed at the ratio of 5 ∶ 3 ∶ 2.

Second, light. Gentleman orchid likes semi-overcast, especially in summer, the scorching sun is easy to produce "sunburn disease". Therefore, the sun must be shaded in summer, with half-shade and half-sun as well, with thick green leaves; but in winter, there should be sufficient sunshine and good light, which is an important condition for producing large flowers and bright colors.

Third, humidity. Gentleman orchid likes to grow in a humid environment, the air relative humidity should not be less than 60%, the leaf color is shiny; the environment is dry, the leaf is dull, even wilting, the leaf yellowing, the growth is not good. Therefore, in the summer with high temperature and fast evaporation, sprinkle water on the ground around the basin and spray water on the leaf surface 3 times a day to humidify, cool down and keep the leaf surface clean. But be careful not to make the water flow to the rhizome to prevent waterlogging of the basin soil.

Fourth, watering. Accurate grasp of the dry and wet condition of magnolia basin soil is the key to watering, the method is not dry do not water, watering is thoroughly. Spring and autumn two seasons exuberant growth, the amount of water can be larger, keep the basin soil moist; "dog days" evaporation is large, such as good ventilation can be more watering, such as muggy weather, poor ventilation, less watering; "three or nine days" basically stop growing, should not be watered, in order to keep the basin soil wet, you can put a layer of moss on the basin surface.

Fifth, fertilize. Take "thin fertilizer diligently" as the principle, do not apply thick fertilizer or raw fertilizer, avoid leaf scorch and rotting roots. Organic manure should be fully mature. The suitable growth temperature of Cymbidium is 15ml / 25 ℃. If it can be controlled within this range, it can be fertilized continuously all the year round. If the natural temperature, more should be applied in spring and autumn, less or no in summer and winter. The unflowering plants are often fertilized with nitrogen-rich fertilizers such as rotten cooked cake fertilizer (annual seedlings are not fertilized), and potassium-rich fertilizers can be applied at the end of autumn, which can not only promote the robust growth of leaves, stems and roots, but also improve the ability of cold resistance and disease resistance. For flowering plants, more rotten cake fertilizer is applied in spring, especially in autumn, more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied, and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be used for extra-root topdressing in the morning or evening.

Sixth, change the basin soil. Change the basin soil once a year, do not plant too deep, bury the soil to the fleshy root neck, the surface can be covered with a layer of moss.

In the maintenance process of the whole year, the pot plants should be often sprayed with clean water, and it is best to dry them with fine cloth after spraying, which can not only increase the smoothness of the leaves, but also improve the ornamental value.
