Zheng Wencan, mayor of Taoyuan, went to the Mazu Story Hall of the Agricultural Expo Park on the morning of the 15th to attend the "2018 Taoyuan Agricultural Expo-press conference of the Mazu Story Museum." mayor Zheng Wencan said that understanding the life and value of the land through agriculture is of great significance for the Taoyuan Agricultural Expo. "Mazu Story" shows Mazu agriculture, fishing, food, culture, experience different outlying island customs, and allows everyone to see Mazu's unique charm.
Mayor Zheng Wencan pointed out that the "Taoyuan Agricultural Expo 2018" has six special areas, 25 pavilions, and four bazaars, with many features, including science and technology, culture, international exchanges, landscape art, and so on. Among them, the Mazu Story is full of battlefield customs on outlying islands, with 88 tunnels and battlefield bunkers as the shape, which is very eye-catching. The pavilion shows the unique culture developed by the residents of the outlying islands of Mazu in the environment of relative lack of materials and difficult living conditions. Its fine wine, red grains, yellow croaker and other specialties also represent the way of life and culture brought about by agriculture and fishing.
Mayor Zheng Wencan said that in the 1960s, most of the villagers of Matsu emigrated to Taoyuan, and because of this origin, there are now about 50,000 Mazu villagers in Taoyuan, and Matsu's marine culture is part of Taoyuan culture. Liu Zengying, head of Lianjiang County, said that the "Mazu Story Hall" exhibited at the Taoyuan Agricultural Expo this year presents Mazu agriculture, fisheries, specialty products, characteristic culture, and battlefield customs, hoping to let more people know the moving story of Mazu. At present, there are about 50,000 Matsu people in Taoyuan. It is also hoped that through this exhibition, Mazu culture can become a feature of Taoyuan, and the two sides will have closer exchanges and cooperation in the future.
