Yesterday, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the white paper "traditional Chinese Medicine in China" and the development of traditional Chinese medicine. This is the first time that the Chinese government has issued a white paper to systematically introduce the development and characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as China's national policies and major measures for the development of traditional Chinese medicine, demonstrating the scientific value and cultural characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. Wang Guoqiang, vice minister of the State Health and Family Planning Commission and director of the State Administration of traditional Chinese Medicine, attended and answered reporters' questions.

Wang Guoqiang said that the rise in the price of traditional Chinese medicine is an objective fact. The price has been on the low side in the past, which directly affects the enthusiasm of pharmaceutical farmers to grow medicinal materials. If there is no reasonable price formation mechanism, the planting quality of traditional Chinese medicine will be affected. On the one hand, we should vigorously promote the standardized cultivation and development of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to form a large scale on the basis of improving the quality of traditional Chinese medicine. On the other hand, it is necessary to establish a reasonable price adjustment mechanism to ensure that the broad masses of people can use Chinese medicinal materials, strengthen scientific research in ensuring supply, find substitutes, and improve the ability of artificial planting.

In terms of solving the medical qualification of folk Chinese medicine practitioners, the first is the "old method for the elderly". Before the date of promulgation of the Medical Practitioners Law, teachers who have obtained the qualifications of medical professional titles or those who do have expertise in traditional Chinese medicine (ethnic medicine) practitioners, to be recognized as a doctor. The second is to stipulate and encourage qualified traditional Chinese medicine, ethnic medicine, teachers and those with genuine expertise to obtain the qualification to participate in the doctor qualification examination by learning from their teachers; and third, the personnel with good skills in traditional Chinese medicine, who mainly pass the clinical assessment and pass the examination, shall be issued to rural doctors with the qualifications of skilled doctors and are allowed to provide services in the scope of practice. The Law of the people's Republic of China on traditional Chinese Medicine is under consideration and will solve the issue of medical qualification of folk Chinese medicine practitioners.

In addition, Wang Guoqiang said that traditional Chinese medicine may be destroyed by traditional Chinese medicine, mainly because of concerns about the quality of traditional Chinese medicine. In the future, the following work will be carried out in solving the problems of the quality and resources of traditional Chinese medicine and ensuring the safety of drug use by the public: first, to carry out the fourth general survey of traditional Chinese medicine resources to find out the resources of traditional Chinese medicine nationwide; second, to promote the ecological cultivation of high-quality Chinese medicinal materials, adhere to the standardization, scale and industrialization orientation of Chinese medicinal materials, and ensure the production of high-quality Chinese medicinal materials from the source. The third is to actively promote the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine, systematically build a standardized service support system of traditional Chinese medicine, and promote the traditional Chinese medicine industry to grow good medicine, produce good medicine, and make good medicine, so that the people can take good medicine.

According to reports, the governments of 86 countries and regions have signed agreements with the Chinese government on cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine. In the past 10 years, according to the statistics of the World Health Organization, the number of countries that formulate traditional medicine policies has increased from 25 to 69, and the number of countries that have regulations on herbal medicine has increased from 65 to 119. The number of countries that have regulations on traditional medical service providers has also reached 65. The international community pays more attention to the value of traditional Chinese medicine.
