The export of flowers in Shunde has increased significantly to the countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route.
Since the beginning of this year, the export of seedlings and flowers in Shunde, Guangdong has shown a trend of rapid growth, with a total export of 138 million seedlings and flowers from January to May, with a total value of 31.88 million US dollars, an increase of 103 per cent and 78 per cent respectively over the same period last year.
The main export varieties of Shunde flower seedlings are Phalaenopsis, tangerine, banyan tree, rich bamboo, rich tree and so on, and the export countries include Singapore, Vietnam, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, the United States and so on. In recent years, on the basis of helping flower enterprises consolidate traditional markets, Guangzhou Customs has organized trade analysis on emerging markets in countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route to guide enterprises to organize production in accordance with the requirements of target countries. In 2017, the export of Shunde flowers to countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route reached 24.34 million US dollars.
Since the beginning of this year, Shunde has added seven new exporting countries, including the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Maldives, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Greece, and exported 955 batches of seedling flowers, 54.5 million plants, valued at US $17.824 million to countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route, up 55%, 107% and 57% respectively over the same period last year, and the main export varieties are Phalaenopsis and Cymbidium.
Guangzhou Customs promotes the flower industry to carry out the action of "increasing varieties, improving quality and creating brands" to expand the international influence of "Shunde Flowers" and make Shunde flowers bloom more brilliantly all over the world. At present, "Shun German orchid" has completed the publicity of national geographical indication products and is about to become the first national geographical indication product of agricultural products in Shunde; "Chen Cun Nian orange" has been demonstrated by national geographical indication product experts and entered the publicity stage; two medium Phalaenopsis greenhouses have passed the official registration examination of the United States, and do a good job in cultivation, pest prevention and control, export quarantine and other work in strict accordance with the highest standards of the United States, Canada and other developed countries.
In addition, in the process of customs clearance, Guangzhou Customs, in view of the high requirements of temperature and humidity environment for seedlings and flowers, accelerated the speed of export inspection and release, moved the quarantine and prevention and control of diseases and insect pests to the daily supervision process, and on the basis of quality and safety control, reduced the proportion of export sampling inspection, ensured rapid customs clearance and immediate release, and reduced the quarantine release time for flower export from three days in the past to one day at present.
