Most of the meat is shallow roots.

Sometimes flower friends struggle with how deep a pot they should use to grow meat. Before choosing pots, it is often necessary to consider which types of meat are deep roots and which are shallow roots, so as to choose the right depth pot for them.

I don't think you need to worry too much about this, because most of the succulents you see are shallow-rooted plants. Or to put it bluntly, all the plants you can buy online that can be shipped without soil and bare roots are shallow-rooted plants, without exception.

Deep roots can be called fleshy plants, I remember only one introduced, called hundred years orchid..

Cecil orchids have exceptionally long and deep roots. Even if the flower age is very small, the root system is more than 1 meter deep. The reason why they can hardly be transplanted is that it is difficult for us to transplant them without damaging their long roots.

Dandelions are the most common deep-rooted plants around us. The image above shows dandelion's powerful root system. Unfortunately, the root system of this dandelion is not complete. The taproot is still broken, otherwise it will grow much longer than in the photo. The roots of deep-rooted plants are like a deep well, which can continuously extract water from deep soil layers. Even if the top soil is extremely dry, they can survive as long as there is moisture in the deeper soil.

Many flower lovers think that succulent plants growing in arid areas must have very deep roots, so they also need very deep pots to grow them. In fact, this is not the case.

These plants that grow in arid areas tend to have roots like the one pictured above. Not only do they not have the straight and thick roots we imagine, but they are also out-and-out fibrous root systems. Instead of drilling straight down for water, these roots actively occupy a large area.

The intention is obvious: it rarely rains in arid areas, and most of the time morning dew, which condenses in the topsoil as a result of large temperature differences, is what they drink to survive. Even if it rains occasionally, the rain does not penetrate deep enough into the earth.

So, in this environment, the topsoil is the water source, and the larger the area their roots occupy, the more water they can collect. Naturally, such plants would have evolved towards shallow roots.

Then, like twelve rolls of meat with thick and long fleshy roots, it should definitely be deep roots. Moreover, we have always advocated using deeper pots to raise twelve volumes, isn't it to take care of their deep roots?

Unfortunately, they're not deep-rooted either. And on the contrary, they are also typically shallow roots.

The twelve volumes grew in their native environment, often in crevices in the rocks. There is a small amount of fertile soil in the crevices of the rock and it is moistened every morning by dew condensing on the rock surface. Volume 12 loves this environment. Although their roots can grow very long, they do not necessarily have to take root deep into the soil. These roots just meander and look for various cracks and drill in and out.

Not to mention the root system of Sedum, it was shallow root system. Their roots are not only shallow, but temporary. When there is moisture, it is used to absorb water. When there is drought, it is simply a strong man's wrist. It is not too late to grow it again when it rains.

Since the meat is all shallow roots, what conservation lessons can we learn from it?

1. It doesn't matter what depth of flowerpot you use, as long as the depth can afford meat, and the rest depends entirely on your own preferences.

2, different depths of the pot soil drying speed is not the same. Deeper pot bottom water drying speed is slow, will attract roots to grow deeper, even out of the bottom hole. Shallow pots attract lateral root growth and take up more soil area.

3, different flower pots should be used in different watering methods to cooperate. Deep pots can be watered with large amounts of water and long intervals. Shallow flowerpots, on the other hand, can be watered frequently with a small amount of water to simulate the moisture of morning dew.

4, no matter what flower pot, just on the pot of meat should maintain sufficient water supply. Water is the most important factor in stimulating roots, because roots are born to find water.
