Last Updated: 2024/11/06, From the point of view of the growth environment of succulent plants, the roots of plants growing in desert areas such as cacti, apricot, and green dragon are more resistant to high temperatures, and summer is not too difficult, while most of them grow in the crevices of mountains.

From the perspective of the growing environment of succulent plants, the approximate roots of the genus Cactaceae, Amygdalaceae and Cymbidium growing in desert areas are relatively heat-resistant and it is not too difficult to spend summer. and most of the stone lotus flowers that grow in the cracks in the mountains are more unable to withstand the summer. For succulent plants growing in the wild, as long as the roots grow downwards, the lower the temperature, the lower the temperature, while the succulent plants planted in flowerpots are more embarrassed. The pots are so small, there is so much soil, how the roots grow, and the temperature is so high. It's higher than the temperature suffered by the leaves.

For succulent plants in summer, ventilation is very important. at the same time, a large proportion of granular soil can be selected to enhance the air circulation in the basin, and the temperature of the narrow basin is estimated to be very high. Another advantage of granular soil is that with the increase of the average distance between particles, the soil thermal conductivity is relatively small, which may heat a little slower. in addition, after watering, the contact area of granular soil becomes larger with the help of water, and the thermal conductivity will increase.

No matter what season, light is indispensable, even in summer, succulent plants still need sunshine, but not too much sun. Sunshade generally uses sunshade net, the degree of light transmission depends on the specific needs, silver is better, does not absorb heat, but very expensive. I usually start partial shading around 28 degrees, and gradually put down the sunshade net as the temperature continues to rise. After the sunshade net is covered too much, the shed will be less ventilated, and if possible, it is best to be equipped with fans to increase ventilation.

Crassulaceae plants will open stomata to absorb carbon dioxide at night, within a certain range, the lower the temperature, the more carbon dioxide is absorbed, the stomata are closed during the day, and carbon dioxide is released through decarboxylation for photosynthesis. the higher the temperature, the faster the decarboxylation. Therefore, the large temperature difference between day and night is beneficial to the growth of succulent plants. It would be good for plants to have a relatively cool environment on summer nights, but the changes in heat and cold should not be too sudden.

Due to water control and temperature control, powder is easy to explode in summer. Because it is not suitable to water too much and apply medicine after summer, I usually use drugs such as Huasheng and carbendazim every other week before summer to prevent bacteria and insects, and if watered after summer, I can continue to use them. After the beginning of summer, we should often inspect the buds, the center of leaves, the back, visible roots and other positions, pay attention to abnormal transparent mucus, white powder and so on. If the powder is not found in time, the meat may be disfigured or die. It is usually best to clean up completely dry leaves, which become a refuge for bugs in summer and make the roots poorly ventilated. Try not to clean the dead leaves and watering at the same time to prevent the wounds that may be left on the pole when cleaning the dead leaves to encounter water.

Watering can only be gently watered at the corner of the basin, without watering to the bottom of the basin. A small amount of water is enough to keep the roots of the plant from drying up and dying in the middle of summer. Remember that you can't soak the basin in the middle of summer. It won't dry for a few days. The following is a brief talk about the water supply of plants of different genera in summer, cactus, with the exception of a small amount that can be thoroughly watered during the growing season in most summers. Sedum family, most sedum plants are dormant, sunshade, only a small amount of water supply. In particular, the water of the genus crassulosaurus of the crassulaceae will rot, flower friends must remember. Apricot family, sunshade, many varieties are dormant without water, or a small amount of water.
