Geographical distribution:

It is now in the Caribbean, India, Mauritius, East Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America, the southern United States, Fiji and New Caledonia.

Growth habits:

It rains in the first rainy season after seed germination, but it does not grow rapidly until after the rainy season begins. However, if enough water is available, rubber vines can grow as high as 5 meters in 1 month. Flowering usually occurs at the end of the rainy season, along with fruit setting. It usually finds ripe and immature fruits on rubber vines at any time.

Rubber rattan seeds disperse strong winds and floods. It is particularly important that floods occur in very large rivers in Australia.

A rubber vine can grow up to 2 meters tall as a shrub, but when it is supported by a vine and other vegetation, it can reach 30 meters long. Rubber vines like the area with annual rainfall of 400 to 1400 mm and adapt well to the monsoon climate. It can grow to the maximum, with an annual rainfall of 1700 mm, but seeds with an annual rainfall of 400mm or less are best.
