The Summer Solstice has just passed, and then raise the rose, there is a very important finishing work: that is the beginning of summer clipping. Summer cut rose, flower friends as long as know a "purpose", that is to make autumn flowers more beautiful. So, how to cut the rose in summer?

Summer pruning is usually carried out from late August to early September (the colder place is late August). This is mainly to make hybrid tea fragrant rose and Fenghua rose blossom in mid-late October. For varieties that bloom in the four seasons, the time between cutting off the residual flowers and the next flowering is called "the number of flowering days".

Regardless of the influence of varieties and climatic conditions, we estimate this number of days to about 40 days in warm areas. If the pruning time is too early, it will produce relatively weak flowers during the summer heat in the middle of September. If the pruning is too late, it will lengthen the number of days of flowering because of a drop in temperature, or even cannot blossom because of the cold.

Therefore, summer pruning rose does not need to prune all the branches, as long as the withered parts and the branches of the third crop flowers are trimmed, and the thinner and shorter branches are retained, the autumn flowers can bloom. Here are the detailed pruning techniques:

First of all, the flower lovers need to cut off the first and second branches of the three stubble flowers, that is, at the height of the rose branches that have bloomed three crops, cut them off on top of the five-leaf compound leaves. Note that this does not refer to the overall plant height of 1pm 2. The direction of the incision is either flat or oblique. Cut off the dead branches if you find them.

Then, cut off the branches here, even if the rose is still in bloom, for other branches that are also cut to the length of 1 prime 2. Because these branches are short, they are weak even if they bloom. Also retain the length pruning of branch 1 stroke 2. After pruning, fertilize the rose in time, even in summer, after the wound heals, you can use the rose special organic nutrient solution, 500 times water to irrigate the root, once a week.

In principle, this summer pruning is to remove the withered branches and short twigs of the rose from the base of the branches as a whole, but usually flower friends will keep the short twigs. Because the leaves of short branchlets can maintain plant nutrition, and retain as many branches as possible, it can reduce the risk of losing all autumn flowers due to diseases and insect pests or typhoons.

If all the branches are trimmed together, the autumn flowers will bloom together, and the corresponding viewing period will be shorter. If you keep some branches uncut, although there may not be many flowers blooming at the same time, it can prolong the flowering time.

After pruning, if you encounter buds like the one shown below, keep the buds that stop growing. Some branches have buds that stop growing due to heat and other reasons, which are usually removed when planted on the ground, but such buds can be retained for potted plants.

Although there are some varieties of rose plants that have been pruned in summer, they usually produce beautiful autumn flowers about 40 days after pruning.
