Passion fruit cultivation techniques: outdoor Passion fruit overwintering and low temperature cultivation affect production
Do you like passion fruit? Do you want to know something about its cultivation techniques? Let's take a look.
Sweet and sour, with a unique flavor of passion fruit, deeply loved by the majority of consumers at home and abroad. Whether it is fresh food, fruit juice, or even dishes are very suitable. Places less than 800 meters above sea level in Taiwan and frost-free in winter are suitable for planting passion fruits. The production area has increased by about 200 hectares in recent years, and the average production area in the past three years from 104 to 106 has reached 663 hectares. the main cultivated area is Puli, Nantou.
Low temperature and open-air cultivation affect production
At present, the most common variety of passion fruit is Tainong 1, and its main production season is from late May to late January of the following year, so every spring and summer when it is handed over, fresh passion fruit is rarely found on the market, and most of it depends on jam.
This difference is due to the fact that the temperature during the flowering period of passion fruit is 20 to 30 degrees, and the sunshine time is preferably more than 11 hours a day. If the growth is affected by short-day light and low temperature, it will not blossom and bear fruit smoothly. Coupled with the rapidly changing climate in recent years, open-air cultivation is more difficult, not only prone to diseases, but also more difficult to master fertilizer management. Greenhouse cultivation with light can effectively overcome the obstacle of low temperature.
Protected cultivation disperses market risk
The Agricultural Test Institute has successfully developed the "passion fruit production technology in low temperature season" by integrating the technologies of light, reasonable fertilizer management, pruning and safe control of diseases and insect pests. It can not only overcome the flowering obstacles caused by low temperature and short-day light, but also reduce diseases and insect pests, produce safe and high-quality passion fruit.
In addition, more and more farmers are put into protected cultivation, and in order to avoid farmers concentrating on specific crop items, resulting in subsequent production and marketing problems, short-term protected crops should pursue crop rotation diversification. At present, the greenhouse facilities have more passion fruits, which can help stabilize the production and benefits of the facilities.
