Raise rose, flower friends should know, in addition to fertilizing, watering these most basic things, but also need to prune, pick buds and so on. So, when it comes to picking buds, have flower friends mastered the skills? The picking and breaking buds of rose are fastidious, so you can't pick them casually. Raise rose, can pick and break, blossom is enough to "hi".

1. Pick the bud

For adult roses, buds are usually picked from March to April. Rose often grows three buds at the same time, and if these buds are allowed to grow, each will grow into a relatively thin flower branch. For large flower varieties, they can only produce very weak flowers, and even clusters similar to rich rose can only produce a very small cluster.

So, leave the strongest buds and get rid of all the other buds. For floret varieties and classical roses and landscape roses, there is no need to pick buds in principle.

The specific method of picking buds is: take the three buds from the shoot, which are ready to flourish, keep only the strongest buds in the middle, hold the small buds on the side with your fingers, and remove them from the root of the bud as a whole. Flower friends should be aware that if you pinch with your fingernails, it will not be easy to pick clean.

The picture below shows the state of strong buds in the middle after picking buds. In this way, nutrients can be concentrated here to grow strong branches and flowers in the best state. Due to cold and other reasons, sometimes only two buds grow, then remove the small buds and keep the strong buds. After picking buds, timely fertilization is conducive to the concentrated growth of rose nutrients, it is generally recommended to use rose special organic nutrient solution, mixed with water 500 times, watering once a week.

2. Breaking the buds of rootstock

Rose seedlings are usually bred by grafting scions on rootstocks. The rootstocks of ordinary rose seedlings are usually native wild roses. This kind of seedling often grows buds on the rootstock from March to April, and if left unchecked, it will weaken the growth of the grafted seedlings, so it is necessary to break off the rootstock buds immediately.

General rose rootstock seedlings, if the buds grow on the rootstocks, and the buds have already reached the branches of the plant, they need to be broken off. The specific approach is: first break off the shorter bud, squeeze the bottom of the bud with your fingers, and break it off as a whole. For other long buds, you need to cut it to about 10 cm long with scissors, and then pinch it off with your fingers, so that you can complete the budding treatment of the rootstock.
