Pelargonium, native to South Africa, is a perennial herbaceous flower with more than 700 varieties. Plant a few geraniums in the garden or balcony, and as soon as they bloom, you can't help but brighten your eyes and feel better. Generally speaking, geraniums are relatively easy to raise, as long as you pay more attention in summer, even if you encounter a few "glitches", you don't have to be afraid at all.

So, in the process of conservation of geraniums, how to solve these "minor problems" that are often encountered?

1. Yellowing at the edge of the leaves or overgrowth of plants or even rotten roots

This "glitch" shows that flower friends have watered the geraniums too much, or have suffered heavy rain, and the soil is stagnant. At this time, it is necessary to reduce watering or loosen the soil in time to drain the stagnant water.

In order to reduce the occurrence of geraniums, flower friends should know that geraniums are slightly resistant to drought, afraid of stagnant water, and watering should be dry and wet. Water should be watered every 1-2 days in spring and autumn and every 5-7 days in winter. Water should be controlled in summer and small water should be watered every 3-5 days.

2. branches and leaves grow but do not blossom

If you encounter geranium branches and leaves grow, but do not blossom or flowering sparse, flower quality is poor, indicating that flower friends use too much nitrogen fertilizer, need to reduce farm manure or kitchen waste fertilizer, apply more phosphate fertilizer.

In addition, it should be noted that: geraniums do not like fat, fertilizing too much to make its growth too prosperous is not conducive to flowering. In order to bloom and flourish, 500 times diluted general organic nutrient solution for flowers should be irrigated every 1-2 weeks, and 800 times organic nutrient solution should be sprayed every 10 days during flowering.

3. The flowers suddenly fall off

If flower friends are in the conservation of geraniums and find that the flowers suddenly fall after the geranium blossoms, it may be because of the sharp change in temperature, so in the season when the weather changes greatly, flower friends should move the geranium into the room in advance.

Geraniums generally like warmth and are not resistant to high temperature and hot sun exposure. The optimum temperature for growth is about 15 ℃ in the daytime, not less than 5 ℃ at night, and the optimum temperature for flowering is 15-20 ℃.

4. Dry and burnt leaf margin

If good geranium, suddenly found that the leaf edge of dry scars, indicating that the light is too strong, flower friends to carry out appropriate shade, reduce the light. If the branches and leaves are overgrown and do not blossom, or the buds that have been formed have shrunk and withered, indicating that the light is insufficient, you need to replenish the light at this time.

In addition, geraniums need plenty of light during the growing season, can grow well in full or half-day sunshine in autumn and winter, and can be enjoyed in bright places indoors during flowering. In summer, the plant is dormant or semi-dormant, and the leaves are aging, so they should be kept in a semi-shady place.
