Before, Blue Monster promised to teach everyone how to create rose trees. Today, Blue Monster would share the grafting technology of rose trees.

To make a rose tree, first we have to have a stump that can be used for grafting. Rose tree grafting rootstock generally choose thornless rose, or Aucklandia. If you have roses around you, you can use the method of high-altitude layering taught by Blue Demon yesterday to obtain rootstocks.

If you don't have a grafted rootstock, you can buy a tree or rose rootstock online to do grafting. Of course, for the novice flower friends who lack confidence, Blue Demon recommends that you learn today's budding technology, first practice on the rose, and then really your rose tree.

Okay, back to business. Now, Blue Demon would introduce the grafting method of Rose Tree in detail.

Preparation materials:

1. Grafting knife (sharp utility knife) 1

2. Grafting film (can be replaced by plastic wrap or safety tape)

3. Rootstock

4. Scion

Grafting steps:

First we clean the leaves and thorns of the grafted rootstock. For ease of operation.

The grafted rootstock used for Blue Monster demonstration was obtained by layering in the air. The thick rose branches had many thorns. In order to avoid being pricked, Blue Monster first removed all the thorns and leaves.

After processing the rootstock, we need to prepare a grafting film to wrap the interface. If you use a professional grafting film, you can use it directly. The blue demon uses a preservation bag. All blue demons have to cut the preservation bag into small strips for later use.

Note: Grafting film must be clean, contaminated grafting film is easy to make the interface infected and lead to grafting failure.

Here we take buds, blue demon is budding method, rose budding principle can be carried out in all seasons, but the winter temperature is relatively low, easy to frostbite, not recommended.

Cut off the leaves at the bud point first, paying attention to keeping a small petiole when cutting. Petiole can play a role of bud protection, but also can be used as a reference for us to judge whether the graft survives.

Cut off the position of 0.8-1cm above and below the bud point, so that the size of the bud point is basically determined.

Next will cut good bud point branches, from the middle break open, pay attention not to hurt the bud point. In this explanation, the general bud grafting is to use the cutting method, but because the blue demon rose branches are too thin, easy to cut, so I used the cutting method.

It doesn't matter whether you slice or cut the bud. The important thing is that you don't damage the bud. You must keep the integrity of the bud.

When the bud cut is not smooth, we can cut the cut again to make the cut smooth, and the smooth cut is more conducive to grafting survival.

The above is to take good buds for bud grafting, in order to avoid drying, blue demon recommends that you will take good buds in water, or clean wet towel moisture.

Now we're going to work on the grafted stock. We're going to select the position to graft, and we're going to make the grafting incision. Bud grafting is a subcutaneous graft, so the incision need not be too deep, just to the xylem on the line. Or a little bit of xylem, but not too deep.

The skin at the root cut can be directly cut off and discarded, but Blue Demon recommends that we keep 1/3 of the skin, that is, the skin that has been peeled and tilted, so that we can stick the bud in it more firmly.

The cambium alignment is the key to the survival of the grafting. Bud grafting is simpler than branch grafting because the cambium of the rootstock incision is exposed over a large area, and alignment with the cambium of the grafted bud is easier to achieve.

After fixing the bud point, we should wrap the grafting wound with grafting film, and pay attention to wrapping tightly when wrapping.

The purpose of wrapping grafting film is to keep the humidity of the wound, to avoid the grafting wound from being polluted by the outside world, and to fix the bud point, so that the bud is not easy to fall off.

When wrapping the grafting film, pay attention to leaving the bud point out. If the bud point is also wrapped, the rose germination will be easily suffocated later, resulting in dead buds. After grafting, normal management and maintenance can be done.

Note:

When the rootstock sprouts, it should be removed in time to avoid competing with the grafted buds for nutrients. About a week later, touch the petiole lightly. If the petiole falls off naturally, it means that the grafting survives. When the new bud grows to about 10cm, it should be removed in time to promote the generation of branches.

Bud grafting can be grafted on a branch of multiple buds, according to their own needs can be grafted. Grafted rootstocks can be planted first and then grafted, or they can be grafted first and then planted, which has no effect.
