A solemn and secure direct-drying bonsai

The best state of the tree root of the straight-dry bonsai is that the thick root extends in all directions, showing solemnity and stability, with the momentum of being upright. The branches extend in all directions, with rich layers and powerful branches. Branches should be at the height of the trunk at about 1 / 3 or 2 / 3, not too many branches and leaves, so as not to block the trunk, so that the trunk should be more exposed to show the upright and vigorous bonsai trees.

The pot of straight-dry bonsai trees should be shallow, the planting location depends on the shape of the tree, and there should be an asymmetrical balance between the tree and the basin. If the crown is an isosceles triangle, the planting position should be in the middle and behind. The crown is slightly unequilateral triangle, and the planting position should be slightly on the short side of the triangle.

The trunk of the pile head is upright or basically upright, showing the potential of towering ancient trees. The common tree species for making straight-dry bonsai are red maple, ginkgo, metasequoia, golden pine, triangular maple, elm and so on. Direct dry bonsai can be divided into single dry type, double dry type and multi-dry type and so on.

1. Single dry bonsai

In the single-dry bonsai (figure), the old stump can be selected for styling and pruning, and each side branch should be reasonably distributed according to the straight shape of the stump, and the front and back branches should be distributed more and less around the posture of the trunk. Reasonable distribution of branches in all parts can fully show the beauty, freshness and beauty of bonsai.

2. Double dry bonsai

Double-dry bonsai (picture) is a bonsai made up of two plants. The two plants should choose the same tree species of unequal height and thickness.

Double dry bonsai

Double dry bonsai should be planted in round basin or rectangular basin or oval basin. When selecting plants, you should choose a thicker trunk, a higher trunk, a lower trunk and a thinner trunk. The planting of the two plants can always be inclined to show a clear distinction between primary and secondary, so as not to be rigid. It can be sparse and dense, but it must be coordinated. Do not be too tight and too evacuated, the distribution of branches should be reasonable and uniform.

The production of double-dry bonsai must pay attention to the following key points [Yoshima Huayao].

(1) the two trees as material must be divided into primary and secondary, with the main tree taller and the secondary tree smaller.

(2) the attitude of bonsai is mainly the main tree, and the trunk posture of the secondary tree should be similar to that of the main tree in order to form a certain tacit understanding. If the posture of the trunk of the two trees is completely different, such as the same song all the time, it is difficult to produce the beauty of coordination and should be avoided.

(3) the two trees planted should be front and back, not parallel. Who is ahead and who is behind depends on the specific situation. When planting, the base of the trunk of the two trees should be close to each other, and the roots of the trees should be basically the same. The angle between the extension direction of the trunk of the two trees should not be too large. If the angle is too large, the trunk of the two trees may lose their mutual support and attention.

(4) the branch trade-off and adjustment of double-dry bonsai are more complicated, so it is necessary to deal with the two trees as a unified whole in order to achieve overall balance and stability, virtual and real coordination, competition and order. The lower branches of the two trees should be extended outward, and the thicker branches should be cut off between the two trunks to avoid the intersection of the coarse branches and the trunk. The branches between the double trunks should be filled by the front and rear branches to avoid going straight. In addition, the branches of the main tree should be high, and the branches of the secondary tree can be slightly lower, so as to avoid the influence of the branches of the main tree on the growth of the secondary tree.
