From ancient times to the present, in the process of continuous development and evolution, Chinese orchids have gradually established a theoretical system with the petal shape, flower color, leaf type and leaf color of orchid petals as the main appreciation criteria. This theory is an established standard, not a standard demonstrated by botanists. It is a habit and a habit integrated into Chinese culture. This set of petal appreciation standards summarized by Yilan predecessors has been widely recognized by everyone. A unified national standard has been formed, which has become an important reference for the breeding of Chinese orchids and has had a far-reaching impact on later generations.

We often use the petal shape of orchids to measure the quality of an orchid, which is also the basic knowledge that must be mastered by orchid enthusiasts. According to the petals of orchids, they can be divided into three categories: regular petals, odd petals and colored flowers. As the name implies, regular petal flowers are petal-shaped, well-behaved and normal flowers, among which regular petal flowers are divided into plum petals, lotus petals and daffodils. Strange flowers are divided into: butterfly, peony, chrysanthemum petal, tree shape, lion head, crystal Color flowers are divided into: vegetarian heart, white, green, red, orange, yellow, black and so on. These three methods of square flowers were first applied to Chunhui in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and then gradually developed to the whole country. Today, we only talk about the plum petals inside the plum petals, other petals will gradually explain to you in the later course, we remember to keep paying attention!

Generally speaking, the flower of an orchid is composed of three outer petals, that is, the botanical sepals, two holding petals and one lip petal. The flower shape of the orchid petal is like a newly blooming lotus, and its ideal standard sentence is: the outer three petals are short and broad, the holding petals are short and cannot afford to pocket, and the lips are wide and round, as follows:

1, the outer three petals are short and wide (the ratio of length to width is generally less than 2:1). Those with more than 3:1 can only be called lotus, and the upper sides of the petals show obvious obtuse angles, also known as release angles, which is very important. Those without angles cannot be called lotus petals.

2, holding the flap can not lift the pocket, short and wide, and show inward embrace, no thickening, no white head, it is better to be able to cover the nose.

3, the lip is round and straight, it is better to stretch without curling, and sometimes slightly curl.

Those that fully meet the above criteria are called positive lotus petals, and basically meet the general lotus petals. This does not have much Tao and is easy to understand. It is worth noting that many orchids can be regarded as standard lotus petals when they first bloom, but after a few days of blooming, the outer petals are elongated, the holding petals are open, the tongue is rolled back, and even the shadow of the lotus petals is gone. They are jokingly called "one-day lotus" by orchid friends. Only those who bloom for a long time can be regarded as real lotus petals. The same color of the tongue is called Suhe. According to the color of the petals, it can be divided into yellow lotus, red lotus and so on. We talked about lotus daffodils last time, so I won't talk any more here!
