The argument that our country can achieve self-sufficiency in grain is still somewhat inappropriate. To be exact, our country can achieve national food security at present, but it is not enough to maintain self-sufficiency at present. What do you mean? That is to say, at present, even on the basis of not relying on any grain imports, our country can also solve the problem of food and clothing for our people, but solving the problem of food and clothing and eating well are two completely different concepts.

In view of the current national conditions, if our people are to have enough to eat and be able to eat well, we have to import a lot of grain. In 2017, for example, China imported 130 million tons of grain in the whole year, but imported soybeans accounted for 95.53 million tons, that is to say, soybeans accounted for a large share, while the rest of corn, rice, wheat and sorghum accounted for less than 40 million tons.

As we all know, China's grain has achieved 12 consecutive increases, and the output has been stable at more than 1.2 trillion jin for three consecutive years. However, although China's total grain output is constantly increasing, judging from the import data in recent years, grain imports are also increasing year after year.

Although China's grain output has increased again, it does not mean that all grain production can meet domestic demand, and in terms of the current domestic grain structure, a major problem is the structural imbalance. What do you mean? The word "destocking" is mentioned here, and you should already understand that this is a slogan put forward by the country in recent years, supply-side reform and balance of domestic food supply. Take the current corn, for example, there are still more than 100 million tons in stock. however, at a time when there is no market for corn, our soybeans are being imported year after year, which is also a major problem in the current grain structure of our country.

Since China joined the WTO in 2002, China's trade with other countries has been increasing. From the perspective of WTO trade rules, there is no reason for our country to prohibit other countries' grain from entering our country. After all, our country also has to gradually integrate into the WTO circle. Strengthening trade with countries around the world is in line with the needs of the times.

And the price of grain abroad is also cheaper than that at home, which is very marketable for many domestic enterprises. In the era of free trade and profit-seeking, imported grain is naturally in demand.

Let me cite an example here. Apple phones from the United States have already been widely sold in China, and each generation of models have also been sought after by the Chinese. Is our country unable to make mobile phones? Can't China's own mobile phones meet the needs of the Chinese people?

Obviously not, in today's free trade, no matter whether our grain can meet the domestic demand, we will import foreign grain and agricultural products, not to mention that our country is still unable to meet the food needs of our countrymen.

Here is science to promote agriculture, welcome to follow, take you to grow knowledge.
