Last Updated: 2024/09/20, Petunia belongs to herbaceous plants born in 2012, which is widely used, whether as pot cultivation or landscaping, it is a good choice. And petunia is not strict with the soil, unlike many other species.

Petunia belongs to one or two annual herbs, widely used, whether as potted planting or landscaping, are good choices. Petunia is also less sensitive to soil and less delicate than many other flower species. Perhaps it is because of the strong germination ability and rapid growth of petunias that even ordinary soil environments can grow well. So, can we use whatever soil we want to keep growing well?

In fact, although petunias are more tolerant of poor soil, not all soils can grow. But in order to promote its growth, we usually need to prepare the soil it likes, especially pot cultivation. So, what soil does potted petunias use? As pot planting, soil allocation should be as far as possible to create a suitable pot soil environment for its growth. As a seedling cultivation, peat soil, peat soil, etc. can usually be used, because such a substrate is relatively soft and more conducive to the growth of petunia.

However, garden soil can also be used as a home potted plant. But in order to get a better growth state, we can also mix some pearlite in the garden soil. Perlite often has excellent permeability, mixed into 1-2 into the pot soil, can effectively promote the growth and development of plant roots, so that the roots grow more robust. Of course, if you add some base fertilizer properly, the effect is often better. The recommended base fertilizer can be prepared according to 2% of the pot soil.

Petunia soil preparation is relatively simple, so we do not have to spend too much time and effort to prepare good soil. In fact, as long as in accordance with the fertile loose, permeable and good sandy loam standards, it has been very good. However, before using these soils, it is still recommended to disinfect them in advance, which will be safer.

It should be noted that if the method of sowing is used to breed petunia seedlings, because the seeds are very small, in order to improve the germination rate, it is usually recommended to use fine soil as seeding soil, preferably peat soil, because this substrate is often more delicate and soft and breathable. Leveling the soil before sowing ensures that the seeds will grab the soil better and root better.
