Cymbidium, also known as Jiuhua orchid, Jiuzi orchid, Jiujie orchid, Xia orchid, Ba Mao orchid, Huo Lan, Xing orchid, etc., florescence in March to May, pseudobulb is not obvious, root system is thick and long, plant type is high, leaves are slightly more magnificent than spring orchid leaves, relatively rough, edge has teeth, a stem has many flowers, flowers are large, usually open 5-15, flower fragrance is rich, cold and drought resistance, has a long cultivation history in China, deeply loved by Chinese people, its cultivation is also very simple, Usually pay attention to the following points.

1. The environment for breeding cymbidium should be ventilated, with sufficient light, avoiding direct sunlight or ice and snow cover. Cymbidium in nature mostly grows on the south slope or southeast slope with high altitude, sufficient sunshine and good ventilation. It is the most light-tolerant, drought-tolerant and cold-resistant orchid in Chinese orchid. Therefore, in terms of illumination, if the cultivation of cymbidium is carried out on a closed balcony, windows that can be opened and closed freely should be installed to facilitate ventilation, and fans and cooling equipment should be installed. If it is facing the sun, in hot summer, it must be shaded, and the shading rate should be about 75. In other seasons, light should be strengthened, but exposure should be avoided. If open balconies, courtyards or open-air cultivation of cymbidium are used, since orchids are exposed to sunlight, proper shade must be provided in summer, early autumn and late spring. Control of pests and diseases must be added. Pesticides should be sprayed regularly.

2, plant material to choose good permeability, rich in nutrients, fast water filtration, particle characteristics of stable plant material, cymbidium leaves more flowers, false bulbs small, their own storage nutrients are limited, more nutrients than other orchids need, so plant material rich in nutrients is very important, rich in organic matter, novice can use pine chestnut king and plant gold stone 1:1 for mixing, veteran directly all pine chestnut king plant material. This kind of plant material has the advantages of ventilation, water filtration, nutrition and the like. It does not need fertilization and does not need to worry about fertilizer damage. The orchid buds planted are many and strong, with an average germination rate of more than 200%. Generally, leaf buds can grow into strong grass in the same year.

3. Planting in large pots, do not water too much. Cymbidium has developed roots and strong water absorption ability. It can be slightly larger in pots. Choose pots with roots stretching freely as the standard. Watering should be based on the actual situation of planting materials. If it is not dry, it will be watered thoroughly. Tap water, rainwater, river water, etc. can be used, but dirty water cannot be used. Natural clean water must be selected. Half of the water must not be poured. If it is wet, the surface is still dry. It must be watered thoroughly. In addition, it is recommended not to spray foliar water. Because the pot leaf water is not well controlled, the leaves are easy to have black spots. In spring and winter, watering is generally done in the morning, which can prevent water from freezing. In summer, watering is generally done in the evening, which can avoid conflicts with orchid transpiration and lead to the wilting of orchid leaves.

4, full vernalization, generally refers to the orchid grass must experience a period of continuous low temperature to grow from the vegetative growth stage to the reproductive stage, the best vernalization between 4-10℃, lasting about 20-30 days. Practice has proved that cymbidium only after full development, flowering next year flower products in place. Generally, the areas that need vernalization are the areas with indoor heating in the south or north, and other areas generally do not need deliberate vernalization.

5. Avoid planting too frequently. Cymbidium reeds head small, storage nutrients less, single seedling is difficult to survive, compared with spring orchid, not frequent points, in addition to natural "road", good root system from the big grass; otherwise contrary to expectations, even if single plant cultivation survival, but also often weak seedlings, loss, orchid friends should be cautious.
