The weather is getting hotter and hotter, the orchids at home seem to be unbearable, the leaf tips are yellow, the leaves are black, and the roots are rotten! It turns out that summer is the period of high incidence of orchid disease, 2 problems have to be on guard!

1. Returning grass ahead of time

In general, in the process of orchid growth, in order to promote the germination and growth of new leaves, the tips and edges of old leaves will gradually turn yellow and wither from top to bottom, thus saving nutrients, which is the phenomenon of normal weeding.

But if the new leaves are also yellowing, scorching, and even Reed head deformation, discoloration, it means that the orchid leaves have abandoned the grass ahead of time.

What if we return the grass ahead of time?

Early withdrawal of grass will lead to sparse orchid leaves, blackening, slow plant development or even stop development, at this time, the root system should be checked first.

The main results are as follows: 1. The damage of root system is less.

If the root system is not damaged and the outer leaves wither, just cut it off in time, then control the water and fertilizer, do not dry and irrigate, dry and thoroughly; apply thin liquid fertilizer every 15 to 20 days or so in summer.

2. The root system is seriously damaged.

If the root system of orchid is seriously damaged, the whole plant may return to grass, and the pot must be changed. After taking off the basin, cut off the rotten root, then soak the whole root in carbendazim solution for disinfection, and then re-plant on the basin, pay attention to expose the Reed head.

Second, infected with stem rot

It is found that the orchid leaves gradually turn black from the bottom to the top, and the leaves have long black spots. If you dig up the roots, you can even see that they are all black from the root neck to the Reed head. It is time to be vigilant. It is very likely to be infected with stem rot.

How to prevent and cure stem rot?

The high incidence period of stem rot is from June to September, during this period, the temperature is high, watering is frequent, there are many insect pests, and orchids are easy to be infected with germs.

Prevention first, prevention outweighs cure

1. Antimicrobial agents such as carbendazim, chlorothalonil or methyl topiramate diluted 500 to 1000 times can be sprayed around the plant and on the leaves every 7-10 days during the summer high temperature period.

2. To deal with the wound in time, especially after ramet, the wound healing agent should be applied immediately to prevent infection.

3. Some carbofuran insecticides can be buried in the plant material to prevent insect pests from infecting Reed head.

How to treat it?

1. Cut off and burn the infected orchid plants and leaves as soon as they are found.

2. Pull out the whole orchid, wash it, remove the diseased plant and the rotten Reed, then put the remaining orchid in difenoconazole solution slightly thicker than 500 times, soak for 1 day.

3. Change the soil and put it on the pot again after drying. Without watering, keep it in a cool and ventilated place for three days, soak the orchid basin with 500 ~ 1000 times of fungicides every month, and you can gradually restore your health.

Note: Huahua reminds everyone that in hot weather, orchids must be often turned over and ventilated to ensure that the roots breathe normally. If you find it troublesome, you can blow it with a fan after watering.

Okay, so much for the "fever" of orchids.
