Last Updated: 2024/11/06, In summer, many flower lovers like water to cultivate flowers, but keeping them stinks, in fact, the solution is very simple, adding some materials to the water, sterilization and disinfection can also prevent decay!

How to judge whether the root is rotten?

Look at the root

Observe the root of the plant, if yellowing, blackening and softening, the epidermis is very easy to fall off, leaving only the Lignification part, indicating that the root system has rotted.

Smell

If there is a rotten smell in the roots, or the water stinks, it means that the roots have rotted.

What if the root is rotten?

1. Remove the plant from the hydroponic bottle, rinse it with clean water, and then cut off the rotten roots and tubers.

2. Soak the roots of the pruned plants in 0.5% potassium permanganate solution or 0.1% carbendazim solution for 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Add a few drops of potassium permanganate solution to the water culture bottle to disinfect, wash and change water, and then put the treated plants into the maintenance.

How to prevent rotting roots?

In order to prevent plant root rot, you can add some disinfectant or medicine to the water culture bottle every time you change water, which is not only conducive to growth, but also save worry and trouble.

Ferrous sulfate

The addition of ferrous sulfate solution to water can not only supplement iron for plants, but also adjust the acid-base balance of water quality, so as to prevent yellow leaves from rotting roots.

Usage: ferrous sulfate powder is diluted 1000 times with water, then drop 5-8 drops into the water culture bottle every half a month or so.

Metronidazole

Metronidazole can effectively kill anaerobic bacteria in water and prevent water quality from smelling due to bacterial infection.

Usage: mix a metronidazole tablet with 1000 ml of water and drop a few drops into the hydroponic bottle each time the water is changed.

Charcoal

Charcoal has a good adsorption and antiseptic effect, put into the bottle can effectively purify the water quality and prevent plant rhizome rot.

Usage: add 5-7 pieces of thumb-sized charcoal to the bottle each time the water is changed, which can play an antiseptic effect.

Rusty iron nail

Rusty nails in water work in the same way as ferrous sulfate solution, which can supplement iron for leaves and prevent yellow leaves from rotting. The operation is simple but the effect is slow.

Usage: throw the rusty nails directly into the water, 2 to 3 can be taken out each time the water can be reused.

Carbendazim

Carbendazim can also play a good role in disinfection and sterilization, adding water can prevent rotting roots and heal wounds.

Usage: dilute the carbendazim solution with water according to the instructions and drop a few drops into the water culture bottle every 3 to 5 days.

Antiseptic is the key to hydroponic plant culture in summer.

Flower friends, remember to change water frequently.
