How to cultivate and preserve Phalaenopsis in hydroponics?

Phalaenopsis belongs to the genus Phalaenopsis of Orchidaceae, which is native to the subtropical rain forest. in recent years, Phalaenopsis has been propagated in large numbers by tissue culture, and has become an excellent plant for the Lunar New year Festival in mainland China, especially in South China.

1. Hydroponic method

The main results are as follows: (1) the adult plants of Phalaenopsis which have been pregnant with flower buds are selected, the root matrix is washed off with clean water, the withered roots are removed, the rotten leaves are removed, planted in a transparent container, and the roots of Phalaenopsis are immersed in water.

(2) extra care should be taken when operating. The root tip of Phalaenopsis is very sensitive and can not be touched and damaged, and do not add a hard solid matrix, so as not to damage the root system and affect survival when changing water.

(3) the fresh water was changed every 2-3 days at the initial stage of hydroponic Phalaenopsis growth. Because the root system of Phalaenopsis is aerial, as long as it is not completely immersed in water, it can quickly adapt to aquaculture. The hydroponic Phalaenopsis is shown in the picture.

2. Maintenance guidelines

(1) Light and temperature place Phalaenopsis in a cool and well-ventilated position in summer to avoid direct light, and often spray water to the leaves to maintain humidity. Winter and early spring can be exposed to sunlight, and fluorescent lamps can be used to supplement the lack of sunlight. If the temperature is lower than 15 ℃, the roots of Phalaenopsis stop absorbing water, resulting in physiological water shortage and yellowing of old leaves; if the temperature is lower than 10 ℃, Phalaenopsis will suffer frost damage. Phalaenopsis is very sensitive to temperature.

(2) Fertilizer when hydroponic Phalaenopsis grows new roots, move it to a sunny place, and add nutrient solution, change the nutrient solution every 3-5 weeks. Foliar spraying 0. 1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate before or after anthesis can promote flowering and germination of new roots and leaves.

(3) Phalaenopsis plants are easily damaged by mold when pest control is in a humid environment for a long time. When this phenomenon is found, the growth environment can be improved immediately.
