Weeds often grow next to vegetables and flowers in the yard, which is very annoying. If there are some techniques that can help you control the growth of weeds, or even better remove weeds, then you will certainly enjoy gardening more and make your flower life easier.

Weeds hinder the growth of plants and flowers, affect the growth and flowering of other plants, and increase nutrients with plants and flowers.

1. Clear the seeds of weeds

Even if we dig up the roots of weeds, there will still be some dormant weed seeds in the soil. Every square meter of soil in the yard will contain a lot of weed seeds, which are usually buried under the soil.

When we plant plants to dig the soil, we will bring these weed seeds to the soil surface, they will take root and sprout, after digging the soil, properly cover the soil surface to prevent weeds from sprouting.

For example, the most common dandelion weed can directly cut off the root of the dandelion with some sharp blades, so as to avoid photosynthesis of the weed, it is useless to dig it out directly, and the seeds of the weed will remain dormant for a long time.

2. Stacking mulch

By keeping the soil cool and moist, weeds can also be prevented from overgrowing. Proper mulching on the soil is beneficial to plants, inhibit the growth of weeds, and attract insects such as crickets and beetles. They can swallow all kinds of weed seeds.

If there is plenty of light, the sun will pass through these mulches, which will promote the weeds to take root and sprout, and completely cover the weeds in order to prevent weeds from growing, usually with a mulch of about 5 centimeters. You can even use a light barrier or black film to cover the soil surface with degradable mulch to inhibit the growth of weeds.

Once there is plenty of organic matter on the mulch, weed seeds carried in the wind or bird droppings will carry seeds, and weed seeds will gradually grow.

3. Techniques of weeding

Weeds are usually removed in dry conditions, which can promote the rapid shrinkage and death of weeds, remove all weeds that cover plants with some sharp hoes, or cut weeds from the roots with sharp knives. it can even be used as a mulch.

Experienced gardeners will choose to have sunshine in the morning to clear weeds and let weeds wither quickly in the sun. if there are weeds with seeds in the soil, they cannot be used for composting, otherwise these weed seeds will dormant, and once the environment is right, they will take root and sprout.

Weeds cut or uprooted can be put into sealed bags for composting, can be directly packed in some black plastic bags, put some water to keep moist, put in a sunny place to expose for a few days when the temperature is particularly high, weed seeds can be removed.

Weeds can not be directly mixed into the compost soil, otherwise the temperature of ripening and fermentation is not high enough, these weed seeds will not burn.

4. Prevent the spread of weeds

To prevent weeds from spreading, you can directly cut off the roots of weeds, which can gain great benefits in a short time. When you can't get rid of weeds completely, the best way is to cut off their roots.

Although weeds can not be completely removed, they can be avoided from blooming and seeding. It is best to prune them before they bloom and remove weeds before they bloom to prevent them from spreading.

5. Pay attention to the distance between plants

It is not suitable for plants to grow too compactly. When planting flowers in the yard, we must maintain a suitable plant spacing so that plants have enough space to grow. Of course, the bond distance between flowers should not be too far. If the branches and leaves of plants form a proper shading effect, it can also inhibit the growth of new weeds.

The excessive density of plant species is easy to be infected with fungal diseases, such as the common fungal disease is the lack of ventilation between branches and leaves, if the bottom of the branch ventilation and light transmittance is not good, it is easy to be infected with leaf spot disease.

There are many ways to control weeds, and you can even buy some drip irrigation tubes, which can avoid directly replenishing the weeds, control the hoses to drip water directly to the plant rhizomes, avoid pouring them into the soil elsewhere, and prevent weed seeds from germinating.
