A long time ago, there was a country of Xinglin, named Miaozhuang. The Emperor Boga is known as King Miaozhuang.

King Miaozhuang has three daughters: the eldest princess Miaoshu, the second princess Miaoyin and the third princess Miaoshan. The eldest princess and the second princess were dressed in red and green every day, laughing all day long, but Miaoshan was different from her two sisters and only knew how to read.

King Miaozhuang is getting older and older, but he doesn't have a son. Who will he wear the throne to in the future? So he asked the minister to consult, and finally decided to hire a horse. Then he summoned his three daughters to the temple.

The eldest princess said, "if the daughter wants to recruit a literary talent and full of experience, she will certainly be able to assist her father in governing the world in the future."

The second princess said: "the daughter should recruit a martial arts talent, fight north and south, settle the country in Anbang, and be the arm of the father."

After hearing this, King Miaozhuang nodded, full of joy, and felt that the two daughters were very filial and considerate. He asked his third daughter Miaoshan, "what about you?" What kind of person are you going to hire as a horse? " Miaoshan shook her head and said, "my daughter is willing to serve her father Wang I and never marry."

King Miaozhuang immediately changed his face and said categorically, "No!" It is only natural for a man to marry and a woman to marry. Tell me, what kind of person are you going to marry? " Miaoshan said: "I want to find a doctor who can cure heaven and earth, so that the whole world can be happy." If the father can find such a person, the daughter will marry! "

Oops! Isn't this a problem on purpose? How can there be such an omnipotent doctor in the world? Wang Miaozhuang became more and more annoyed as he thought about it. As a matter of fact, Miaoshan is the smartest and most virtuous of the three daughters. Wang Miaozhuang intended to wear the throne to her, and now she has all been disturbed! As soon as King Miaozhuang slapped the table, he ordered Miaoshan to be locked up in the back garden, changing his Ayakura brocade clothes into thin coarse cloth linen clothes, so that she could taste the cold and hunger.

Who knows this wonderful goodness is a stubborn temper. When she got to the back garden, she put on coarse clothes and ate cold leftovers without a meal every day, but she didn't care at all, as if nothing had happened, and still read her books every day. The queen and her two sisters, as well as the imperial concubine Gong E of the kilometer, took turns to persuade her to change her mind, but she insisted on her own opinion, and no one could be persuaded.

One night, Miaoshan simply escaped from the back garden and went to become a nun at Baique Temple in Longshu County, Ruzhou. When King Miaozhuang heard the news, he quietly gave a secret order to the abbot of Baique Temple. He must persuade Miaoshan to change his mind. If not, we will send troops to set the temple on fire and let all the hundreds of monks and nuns in the temple go to the west.

The abbot made several exhortations to Miaoshan, but to no avail. Later, she had to go to the kitchen to do rough work, carry water and cut firewood, so as to let her know that it is not so easy to be a monk. As a result, Miaoshan, without complaint, rolled up his sleeves and went to work. Unexpectedly, all the animals in the mountain liked her. A hundred beasts and camels brought firewood and thousands of birds sent vegetables. The monks and nuns of Baique Temple were surprised and told the story to King Miaozhuang.

King Miaozhuang was furious and sent troops to surround the Baique Temple and set a fire to burn Miaoshan and hundreds of monks and nuns. But just as the fire was about to start, it rained cats and dogs and poured down in the face, putting out the fire. The officers and soldiers had to tie up Miaoshan and escort them back to the capital to be disposed of by King Miaozhuang.

On a section of the mountain road back to the capital, a tiger jumped out, and everyone left Miaoshan to run for their lives. Miaoshan narrowly escaped death, begged all the way, and finally settled down on a barren mountain. She built a thatched shed, kept company with birds and animals, and still practiced sutras every day. This mountain is called Xiangshan.

King Miaozhuang was angry all day because of the wonderful things of his third daughter, and everything was not going well. Over time, he got a strange disease, and there were many sores and furuncles all over his body, which were painful and itchy. Seek treatment everywhere, but no one can cure it. Later, the sore and furuncle fester and discharge pus, the flesh gives birth to worms, and the stench fumes the sky. At this time, an old man came and gave a prescription to King Miaozhuang, saying that take this prescription to find a person who is calm and will not get angry, show this prescription to that person, and that person will find a way to save you. Miaozhuangwen asked where to find this man. The old man said, "go to Xiangshan and have a look."

Now there was no other good way, so King Miao Zhuang had to send a minister to Xiangshan with his prescription. To the mountain, sure enough to find a woman, she was dressed in white, quietly sitting there reading, feeling very peaceful. The minister went forward, told her the story of King Miaozhuang's illness, and then gave her the prescription. After hearing this, the woman had already burst into tears, and then opened the prescription to have a look, but she needed to use her own eyes and hands to cure the strange disease.

This woman was the third princess Miaoshan, but she had been away for many years, and her appearance had changed, and the minister could not recognize her for a moment. Miao Shan thought, "if a father is in trouble, a daughter should save him!" If his illness can be cured, it is worth giving his eyes and hands. " Thinking of this, she said very calmly, "take what you need now."

So the minister gouged out Miaoshan's eyes, cut off Miaoshan's hands, and returned to King Miaozhuang. King Miaozhuang brought it into medicine, and after taking it, the strange disease was soon cured.

Miaoshan's sacrifice to save his father touched heaven, and countless hands grew on her, each with an eye. It is said that this is the legend of Qianshou Guanyin.

Besides, the king of Miaozhuang went to Xiangshan to thank him personally after he recovered. When I got there, I found that it was my third daughter, Miaoshan, who saved herself. He was so ashamed and moved that he began to practice ever since. I do not know how many years later, King Miaozhuang finally achieved spiritual practice, and the Buddha in the western sky summoned him to rank him among the Bodhisattvas. When King Miaozhuang came to the gate of Xitian, an idea suddenly came out of his mind: "the gate of the treasure house in the palace is in disrepair. Don't be robbed of the treasure inside."... " Although this idea flashed by his alarm clock, the Buddha in the West had already discovered it. The Buddha said to him, "if you have been practicing for so long and are still so greedy for money, you'd better find a place by the roadside of the pavilion in Putuo Mountain and ask for alms from pilgrims."

Since then, there has been a small Buddhist niche around Putuo Mountain, in which there is a "beggar Bodhisattva", who is said to be the king of Miaozhuang at that time.
