According to personal planting experience, but also read a lot of God's experience, casually write for flower friends only for reference.

I feel that water moss, as a widely used plant material, is indeed the best plant material for domestic Phalaenopsis. The leaves are firm and firm, so it is best not to change them easily.

Like to use hard plant materials such as bark, charcoal, ceramsite, blue stone and so on, when changing the basin, a small amount is properly mixed in the water moss to enhance its air permeability, and the practical effect is also OK.

If there are conditions to use the original ecological planting board cultivation, the effect is better, but the general domestication is not easy to achieve.

However, the simple use of hard plants is not very ideal, including folk prescriptions such as semi-hydroponic culture. in practice, when full hard plants are used, most of them grow slowly, and the leaves are small and easy to droop, even if Phalaenopsis can adapt to growth and even bloom in the future. however, the strength of its roots and leaves, the quantity and quality of flowers and florescence are also very different from those cultivated by water moss.

Let's talk about changing pots, after getting a Phalaenopsis, if the root system is relatively developed and healthy, it's best not to change the plant material. If you don't like the nutrition bowl outside (that is, transparent plastic soft basin), you can remove it. Put the plant in a large and beautiful flowerpot, and the surrounding space can be simply filled with foam, as long as it is fixed and does not fall down. The plant is not affected at all, continue to grow normally, and it is easy to produce pedicels in the future.

If the root system is in poor condition or the plant material must be changed, water moss is still recommended. No matter what kind of plant material is used, there will be considerable damage to the root system, and the plant will be weaker, so do not water through any planting water after changing the basin. Watering will rot the root. After that, the whole plant can be sprayed frequently. You must wait until new roots and new leaves begin to grow before you can water them normally. If the water moss generally recovers and grows faster, but there may be problems when switching to pure hard plant materials, the leaves in the lower layer quickly become soft and sagging, the healthy roots begin to shrink, the adaptation time of the plant takes a long time, and the emergence of new buds is delayed.

In addition, some data say that the technology of planting Phalaenopsis with whole bark has been very mature in foreign countries. through experiments, cultivation in families is easy to fail, whole bark is very prone to mold outbreaks, high temperature and ventilation requirements, and it is best to start cultivation from seedlings. Only orchid farms or professionals have the conditions to operate.

The above is only a little personal experience in planting materials and changing pots. In order to raise Phalaenopsis well, water and fertilizer management is more important and will continue to be discussed in the future.
