There are many reasons for the rotten roots of the orchids: if the soil is hardened and airtight, it is appropriate to loose the soil or replace it with good permeability soil. If the amount of watering is large, it will cause ponding, so let the soil remain semi-dry and semi-wet, and do not water too much. If it is caused by excessive fertilization, replace the pot soil or increase the amount of watering to let the excess fertilizer flow out.

1. Replacement of soil

Reason: The soil hardening of the cultivated hoya is not breathable, which will cause its roots to be unable to breathe and lack oxygen, which will lead to rotten roots and yellow leaves.

Solution: appropriate loose soil, or change to good permeability of soil, can also add some good permeability of filler in the pot soil, such as perlite, etc., can make the soil more breathable. Found rotten roots should be dug out in time, and rotten roots cut off and then disinfected, and then planted with new pot soil can be.

2. Reasonable watering

Reason: watering too much will lead to ponding, easy to rot roots, leaves will also follow yellow and soft.

Solution: Try to keep the soil moist, water not too much and not too often, the soil is semi-dry and semi-wet, and it is best not to produce ponding. Reduce watering or stop watering in winter when temperatures are low.

3. Appropriate fertilization

Reason: Excessive fertilization will cause fertilizer damage, leaves will turn yellow and soft, but also lead to the phenomenon of rotten roots.

Solution: Do not apply too much fertilizer. If the fertilizer amount is large, the rotten roots can be replaced, or the watering amount can be increased to let the excess fertilizer flow away. It is also not allowed to apply too much fertilizer at one time, especially the undecomposed fertilizer is more likely to lead to rotten roots, and proper watering can be done after fertilization.
