Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Recently, many flower friends have asked Huahua backstage why their turtles have been carrying bamboo for a long time, but they just don't carry them. Today, Huahua will come to share with you why the tortoise back bamboo does not open its back!

The young turtle can't keep the bamboo on its back.

In the seedling stage, the root system of the tortoise back bamboo is not strong enough, and the leaves are mainly complete heart-shaped, but with the growth of the tortoise back bamboo, holes will gradually appear from the fifth leaf.

Measures to promote open-back:

1. Increase the light

Seedlings of Phyllostachys pubescens need to receive more light in order to promote the growth of leaves faster. If the seedlings are in a dark environment for a long time, the plants will grow slowly and the holes in the leaves will be too small.

2. Less watering

Seedlings of Phyllostachys pubescens have little demand for water, a small amount of water can promote the cracking of leaves. On the contrary, a large amount of watering will cause the leaves to grow and not crack.

Adult turtles can't keep their backs open.

Some friends will find that their turtles and bamboos have been bought back for a year or two, but they still don't open their backs. This needs to find the reason from the daily maintenance of tortoise back bamboo.

Excessive or insufficient light

In late spring and summer, the temperature is on the high side, so the tortoise back bamboo should not come into contact with the sun. But you can't keep the tortoise-backed bamboo in a dark room without exposure to the sun. It is best to put it in an astigmatic environment, such as the living room, to receive soft and bright light.

Water deficiency

Different from seedling tortoise back bamboo, adult tortoise back bamboo has a large demand for water. It is usually watered once every 1-2 days in summer, and it is usually necessary to sprinkle water on the leaves to improve the humidity of the surrounding environment and promote the growth and cracking of leaves.

Improper fertilization

Adult tortoise back bamboo has a relatively large demand for fertilizer, so it is best to apply rotten cake fertilizer and water 1-2 times a month. When fertilizing, combined with watering, dig up the pot soil at the edge of the flowerpot, bury the fertilizer, and then cover it with soil.

Buy fake "tortoise back bamboo"

If the above is not in line with the situation of your tortoise-backed bamboo, then it is very likely that you bought a fake tortoise-backed bamboo-Dishui Guanyin.

Dishui Guanyin is very similar to the unopened-backed tortoise-backed bamboo at the seedling stage. So, if your tortoise back bamboo is not open all the time, then you are very likely to buy Dishui Guanyin.

Change basin and separate plant

Some flower friends also reported that their tortoise-backed bamboo was originally open-backed, but recently the newly grown leaves suddenly failed to open. This reminds you that it's time to change the ramet for the tortoise.

1. Take off the basin

Beat the outside of the flowerpot, detach the tortoise-backed bamboo from the original flowerpot, break the mound and remove the pot soil.

2. Ramet

After the removal of soil, the turtle-backed bamboo was washed clean with water and divided into several separate plants.

3. Root trimming

Cut off all the rotten, withered and weak roots on the root, cut off the bottom rhizome and retain a bud point.

4. Upper basin

Put the tortoise back bamboo into the basin again after dividing and pruning, first spread a layer of humus on the bottom of the basin, then put the turtle back bamboo into the middle of the basin, and finally fix it with soil.

5. Pour water thoroughly

The first watering must be thoroughly watered, and then can be watered once in 1-2 days, be careful not to have stagnant water.

Tortoise back bamboo rhizome cuttage

When the ramet, the flower let the cut rhizome can not be thrown away, take it for cutting and you can harvest another tortoise back bamboo!

1. Distribution of soil

The saprophytic soil and garden soil were mixed into humus soil according to the proportion of 1:1.

2. Bury the rhizome

Put the rhizome flat into the soil, all the roots should be buried, but the incisions at both ends should be exposed. After burying it, pour it thoroughly, then keep it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

This is the end of the knowledge of the tortoise's back and bamboo's back.
