As the Spring Festival approaches, the demand for some foods will increase in scale and prices will rise again and again. According to media reports, the price of eastern white shrimp has tripled due to the surge in demand for the Spring Festival, and the price of a catty approaches 500 yuan.

The Fisheries Department pointed out that the price of white shrimp in Taitung is affected by breeding methods, sales types and specifications, and the price is on the high side. At present, the price of white shrimp in the market before the Spring Festival has risen slightly by 10%, mainly affected by the demand of the New Year. The wholesale price per kilogram is 221 yuan, which is still within a reasonable range.

In response to the increase in demand for agricultural products during the Spring Festival, the Committee of Agriculture has strengthened the allocation of supply. It is estimated that the supply of vegetables, fruits and flowers will increase by 26%, 24% and 3 times in the first five days of the Spring Festival. As for livestock and poultry aquatic products, it has coordinated with relevant organizations to estimate that the supply of pigs will increase by 28%, chickens by 10% and aquatic products by 10%. It is estimated that the supply of the Spring Festival market will be safe.

White shrimp price rises above 500 yuan? Fisheries Department: Taitung is a special case

According to the Fisheries Department, the annual production of white shrimp in China is about 9,282 metric tons, of which Taitung white shrimp accounts for only 2% of the annual production. The local sales of live shrimp, coupled with pure marine culture, are relatively high. The Taitung white shrimp mentioned in this report is about 25 fish per catty, which is larger than the common specifications of 50 to 60 fish per catty on the market. It is a special commodity with larger body size and less production volume.

The Fisheries Department pointed out that the average price of white shrimp in 13 wholesale markets in China in the second week before the festival was stable from 50 to 60 per catty, at 221 yuan per kilogram, up slightly by 10% from 200.8 yuan per kilogram in the same period in 107.

In response to the 10% increase in white shrimp, the Fisheries Department explained that the annual market demand is strong, the prices of aquatic products are rising, and popular aquatic products will rise by about 10% on average, which is a short-term phenomenon. In addition, western white shrimp are mostly harvested and frozen in the first few months. The domestic frozen shrimp supply is abundant. If there is a shortage of frozen shrimp, the increase may be several times. At present, the increase is still within a reasonable range.

Stabilize agricultural prices during the Spring Festival, the Agricultural Committee: Strengthen the allocation of supply

The Spring Festival is one of the major festivals in China. The demand for fruits, vegetables, flowers, livestock and fish has increased significantly before the Spring Festival. In response to the increase in demand for agricultural products before the Spring Festival, the Agricultural Committee has stabilized the prices of agricultural products before the Spring Festival, taken stock of agricultural products due to the festival in advance, and strengthened allocation measures.

Kang Jiangliang, director of the Statistics Office of the Agricultural Committee, said that referring to the market supply and demand situation in previous years, and supply prices, strengthen the market supply situation of allocated products. Usually, due to the processing demand of pigs, the market trading volume will begin to rise three weeks before the Spring Festival, while the trading volume of others will reach its peak one week before the Spring Festival.

The Agricultural Committee takes stock of the demand for agricultural products during the Spring Festival. The supply of fruits, vegetables and flowers is abundant, and the allocation will be strengthened according to the market conditions. It is estimated that the supply of vegetables and fruits will increase by 20% to 30% in the five days before the festival; the estimated supply of chrysanthemum, rose, flamingo, gladiolus, pineapple flower, silver willow and other seasonal flowers will increase by three times.

In addition, in the livestock and poultry, aquatic products part, Kang Jiangliang pointed out that production and marketing meetings have been held with relevant groups to coordinate supply, pigs, aquatic products and other estimated supply will increase by 28% than usual, assessment of the Spring Festival supply is safe.

Chen Tianshou, vice chairman of the Council of Agriculture, added that last year's Beinong incident, due to climate problems and continuous market closures, led to a drop in the price of fruits and vegetables. This year, communication has been made with Beinong, and the market will open on the sixth day of the lunar new year. The sixth, seventh and eighth days of the lunar new year are trading days. The market will not close until the ninth day of the lunar new year. There will be no continuous market closure.
